WTA Bogota Day 2 Predictions Including Camila Osorio vs Caroline Dolehide

Expect plenty of entertaining tennis on day two at the WTA Bogota Open with 10 matches on the slate and the defending champion amongst those in action. As always, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for every match on the slate, including Marie Bouzkova vs Ana Sofia Sanchez. But who will advance?

WTA Bogota Day 2 Predictions

Maria Lourdes Carle vs Emiliana Arango

Head-to-head: Carle 2-2 Arango

This is a matchup between two players who are woefully out of form. Emiliana Arango has won once in eight matches this season, while Maria Loudes Carle has fared only marginally better with three wins from 10 matches. And what is particularly surprising is that Arango has struggled in her tournament since that breakout run in 2018 as a teenager (quarterfinalist). That said, heavier clay patterns should favor the Colombian, who has looked competitive in recent matches.

Prediction: Arango in 3

Irene Burillo Escorihuela vs Jazmin Ortenzi

Head-to-head: Burillo Escorihuela 1-1 Ortenzi

This is one of those matches that will most likely come down to who is more comfortable with the grind with both Jazmin Ortenzi and Irene Burillo Escorihuela starting their weeks at WTA Bogota in the qualifying. Ortezi was flying in qualifying, earning a massive win over Elina Avanesyan in the final round and did not drop a set in either match. Burillo Escorihuela, however, needed to go the distance in both qualifying matches to reach the main draw. The Spaniard is the experienced player and has a better clay resume and slightly stronger clutch numbers, but her baseline game can drift when she plays poorly.

Prediction: Ortenzi in 3

Darja Semenistaja vs Ella Seidel

Head-to-head: first meeting

This should be an exciting match. Darja Semenistaja and Ella Seidel are both exciting young players, but with vastly different profiles. Semenistaja has made a name for herself, winning multiple titles on clay. She has one of the strongest win rates on the surface at the lower levels. Seidel’s clay sample is thin and very inconsistent, and she played one main draw match at the WTA level on the dirt in the past year. Familiarity and surface comfort heavily favour the Latvian.

Prediction: Semenistaja in 2

Camila Osorio vs Caroline Dolehide

Head-to-head: Osorio 1-1 Dolehide

Camila Osorio is the most decorated player in the field this week. She’s a three-time champion in Bogota and won the last two editions of this tournament. The 24-year-old will look to tie the all-time record for the most titles at this event. That record is currently held by her countrywoman Fabiola Zuluaga. Caroline Dolehide enters this tournament on a skid, having lost her last three matches. Osorio has an excellent track record at her home event and should be expected to rise to the occasion.

Prediction: Osorio in 2
