WATCH: Taylor Fritz Wins Point on Absurd Behind-The-Back Shot

Taylor Fritz isn’t a player that comes to mind for highlight-reel shots, but Tuesday night in Dallas he delivered a show-stopper deep into the first set.

Fritz was coming off of a medical timeout for a knee injury and hadn’t been competitive on his opponent Marcos Giron’s serve, but things shifted at 4-3, when Fritz took the game to deuce. Giron notched an advantage, but that was where Fritz pulled out the magic.

After pushing Giron across the baseline with heavy groundstrokes into the corners, Fritz scooped a drop shot over the net. Giron managed to chase it down, and the net cord popped it up behind Fritz.

With quick reflexes, Fritz flicked his racket behind his back and tapped the ball over the net in a pseudo-lob that Giron had no chance of reaching.

Fritz, who had been laser-focused all night, raised his fist and grinned as the crowd cheered him on. And though he didn’t end up breaking Giron’s serve in that game, he later broke for the set and went on to win the match. But no other point came close to Fritz’s electric behind-the-back shot, the highlight of the night.

TennisTV called it the “shot of the year so far.” Honestly, we’re inclined to agree. What do you think? Have you seen a better winner yet this season?
