WTA Hong Kong Best Bets Including Cristina Bucsa vs Yexin Ma

The WTA is back in China with the WTA Hong Kong Open. There are six matches scheduled for tomorrow, and LWOS has decided to cover all of them. We aim to bring you most of the early-round matches from the WTA Hong Kong tournament, regardless of the players’ rankings. Please share your thoughts in the comments.

WTA Hong Kong Open

Sidorova –Lys: Time 08:30

H2H: 0-0

Kristiana Sidorova and Eva Lys will meet for the first time in Hong Kong. This is a match between a player ranked no. 527 in the World vs a player ranked no. 50 in the World. There’s just not much to say here. Lys is 7-3 in her last ten, and all of her losses were to top players. Sidorova is 6-4, but she’s not losing to the same crowd. The people she’s losing to aren’t even on the radar of the average tennis watcher, unless you happen to really love Belarusian tennis players.

This match isn’t much different than the Tomljanovic match in the other article I wrote. This one might have bigger fluctuations in the line on the underdog, but the premise is the same. Both of these matches feature monumentally huge underdogs going up against a sizeable favorite. I’ll repeat what I said there, here, and that is to avoid straight-up or correct score bets. They aren’t going to be profitable. Once again, there’s a range from about 18.5 games to 16.5 games where the under on over/under is going to be worth your while. My favorite is under 17.5 games at 1.96 on Unibet.

That being said, Under 17.5 games is a value bet for sure.

Inglis – Wang: Time 07:00

H2H: 0-0

Maddison Inglis vs Yufan Wang is a meeting of two players who primarily prefer the hardcourt. Neither player has had much success this year. Wang is just 7-10 overall, while Inglis is 29-25 overall. She’s 26-20 on a hardcourt, and Yufan has only played in hardcourt tournaments when she has played. This is just an off year for Wang, but she does seem to have them now and again. Inglis isn’t getting any younger, and if she’s going to make a WTA push, the time is drawing nearer. If she waits too much longer, she’s going to be over the hill in tennis terms.

Wang is the favorite in this match, even though she’s barely played this year. I understand why, at least in principle. Wang is the more decorated of the two, and she’s shown that she can be a top 50 player. She’ll need to play more often to rise the ranks, but she’s fairly talented when she’s on the court. If you’re going to take Wang, take her winning 2:0 at 2.1 on Bet365.

That being said, Wang winning 2:0 is a value bet for sure.

Bucsa – Ma: Time 07:00

H2H: 0-0

Cristina Bucsa vs Yexin Ma finishes our coverage for today. Bucsa enters the match needing a win over Ma. She’s only 5-5 in her last ten matches, and even had a three-match losing streak in there, as well. Ma is 8-2 in her last ten matches, and she has a final and a quarterfinal in there, both at the WTA level. Her performance at WTA Jingshan was pretty spectacular, and she nearly came away with a tournament victory. Her one tournament victory on the year came at ITF Osaka, so she’s gonna need to win a WTA tournament to silence the doubters.

Best Bet to Make

Ma is a 5-1 underdog in this match, and I’m thinking it’s because of their ranking. If we’re going off form, Ma is clearly in better form. Bucsa is the higher-rated of the two, but she’s really not been playing up to her ranking this year. She hasn’t even made a single quarterfinal this year. You’re free to ignore this one, but I think Ma is going to grab an upset here. I think she’s being a bit disrespected by the books, and I don’t think Bucsa is playing so well that she’s this much of a favorite in reality. Give me Ma at 5.47 on Betfair on a throwaway.

That being said, Ma winning is a value bet for sure.
