WTA Hong Kong Best Bets Including Anastasija Sevastova vs Maya Joint

The WTA is back in China with the WTA Hong Kong Open. There are six matches scheduled for tomorrow, and LWOS has decided to cover them all. We aim to bring you most of the early-round matches from WTA Hong Kong, regardless of their rankings. Please share your thoughts in the comments.

WTA Hong Kong Open

Kobori –Tomljanovic: Time 08:30

H2H: 0-0

Momoko Kobori vs Ajla Tomljanovic opens up our coverage. This will be the first match between these two. The differences between them couldn’t be more stark. Tomljanovic is a Top 100 player in the world. Kobori isn’t even in the top 450. Kobori is currently 4-6 in her last ten matches, and Tomljanovic is 6-4 in hers. Kobori is on a two-match winning streak and has a record of 204-158 overall on a hardcourt, though she is 16-14 in ’25. Tomljanovic isn’t doing much better at 13-13 on a hardcourt in ’25, and 233-185 overall. This is both women’s first time participating in this tournament.

Best Bet to Make

The books have Tomljanovic as a nearly 9-1 favorite on some books. Needless to say, taking Tomljanovic straight up isn’t going to net you anything. Being honest, even betting on a correct score isn’t going to net you anything, as that tops out at 1.36 on 1xBet. The only way you’re going to get anything of value is by taking the under on a few different possibilities. There’s a range from about 18.5 games to 16.5 games where taking the under is profitable and sensible. Shoot for something in that category, and you’re looking at 1.75-2.75 payout, depending on which one you picked. My personal favorite is under 18 games for 1.9 on 10Bet.

That being said, Under 18 games is a value bet for sure.

Wong – Morvayova: Time 11:30

H2H: 1-1

Cody Wong vs Viktoria Morvayava is the only match in this article that has any sort of rivalry heading into the match. This will be the third meeting between the two, with Morvayova having taken their first-round match a couple of weeks ago at ITF Huzhou. Wong won their 2022 first-round match at ITF Nottingham 7. Morvayova is in much better form right now, having gone 7-3 in her last ten matches, which also includes a victory over Wong. For her part, Wong is 3-7 in her last ten with the aforementioned loss to Morvayova. This is Morvayova’s first time participating in WTA Hong Kong, but this is Wong’s sixth appearance.

Best Bet to Make

The books favor Wong, and I’m dumbfounded, given their current form and records. Morvayova is 46-25 this year overall, but Wong is 14-24, and she’s 13-16 on a hardcourt, while Morvayova is a staggering 35-18 on a hardcourt. The average is about 1.73 to 2.07 in favor of Wong. I had to keep checking to make sure I was looking at the right numbers because nothing about this made much sense to me. I don’t think many bettors will have a problem taking Morvayova at 2.14 on Unibet. If you’re sure she’s going to win in two sets, you can really cash out by taking Morvayova 2:0 at 3.5 on Bet365. It’s up to you.

That being said, Morvayova winning is a value bet for sure.

Value bet/ the best odds: Morvayova winning @2.14 @Unibet

Sevastova – Joint: Time 13:00

H2H: 0-0

Anastasija Sevastova vs Maya Joint is our featured match, as it’s the only match with a seeded player. Joint is having a rough stretch right now, going 5-5 in her last ten matches. Sevastova isn’t having too great a stretch either, also going 5-5 in her last ten. They may have a similar form numbers-wise, but Joint’s losses tell a far different story than Sevastova’s. Joint is losing to top players, and Sevastova is losing to good players. Joint also has the added benefit of winning two tournaments this year, and Sevastova hasn’t won a tournament since 2020.

Best Bet to Make

Maya Joint is about a 3-1 favorite in this match, and I agree. I think she’s shown more in her losses, and both players’ last losses illustrate my point perfectly. Sevastova lost to Jasmine Paolini 6-1, 6-3, but Joint’s loss to Karolina Muchova was 6-3, 7-5. One match had two people legitimately trying to win; the other match had one person hanging on for dear life. Joint just seems to be in a much better place physically and mentally, and that’s going to be the X-factor in this match.

That being said, Joint winning 2:0 is a value bet for sure.
