Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz have become the face of modern tennis. Their consistency across tournaments and sheer ability to make it to the finals have left everyone in awe. The pair recently met in three back-to-back finals, taking their rivalry to newer heights. The most recent one was at the Cincinnati Masters, where Alcaraz beat Sinner 5-0 in the first set after the Italian couldn’t continue due to taxing conditions.
Sinner Explains His Relationship With Alcaraz
The duo has already made massive statements in the ongoing US Open, and it seems like another Sinner-Alcaraz final for the crowd. After his recent match against Alexander Bublik, which Sinner comfortably won 6-1, 6-1, 6-1, he was asked about what kids could learn from his rivalry with Alcaraz.
In his post-match Press Conference, Sinner expressively answered, “I think we have a good friendship off the court. We see that this is possible, you know. It’s not like you have to be enemies also off the court.” Sinner was very evidently pointing at their off-court relationship as an example for kids.

He mentioned how he shares a great relationship with the Spaniard despite some intense battles on the court. He further continued, “One thing is to be a good tennis player, the other one is to be a good person. Two different things. I think we have both a little bit.” Both players have often stressed the importance of being a good human being.
Their quality of respecting each other’s achievements resonates with their dominance on the tour. Players have many interactions in the locker room pre- and post-matches. A healthy environment with your peers makes one excel, and it is evident in the case of the current two best players. Sinner will take on fellow Italian Lorenzo Musetti, and Alcaraz is up against Jiri Lehecka in their respective quarterfinal bouts.
