The second batch of 2025 Cincinnati Open wild cards was announced. It is a five-man list completing the wild card entrants in the ATP tournament.
Two weeks ago, seven-time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams and Ohio native Caty McNally were both granted main draw wild cards in the women’s tournament. Six more WTA players will be named ahead of the event. This is a joint ATP/WTA 1000 tournament and the last important stop for top players before the US Open.
Five Players Receive Cincinnati Open Wild Cards
The new list is led by 21-year-old Californian Ethan Quinn. Having broken the ATP Top 100 this season, Quinn is recognized for his hard work. He will play in the Cincinnati Open main draw for the first time.
Joining him will be world #86 Mackenzie McDonald. The 30-year-old lost in qualifying last year but reached the last 16 in 2023. His best result this season is on a hard court. McDonald was the runner-up at the San Diego Challenger at the start of March.
Jenson Brooksby is the third wild card. He has competed in just one main draw in Cincinnati. The 24-year-old is very much in the running to be nominated for the Comeback Player of the Year award. He has enjoyed a fantastic return in 2025, winning a historic maiden ATP title in Houston, and stands on the brink of a Top 100 return.
The fourth American in this list is Brandon Holt, the son of WTA legend Tracy Austin. He has played twice in Cincinnati in the last two years. Holt lost in qualifying in 2023 and came up short in the main draw last season against Arthur Fils.
The only non-American wild card is Chile’s Nicolas Jarry. The former world #16 has won two hard-court matches this season. His selection as a wild card recipient is a very odd choice.
Main draw action at the Cincinnati Open will begin on Thursday, August 7th.
