ATP Toronto Day 6 Predictions Including Taylor Fritz vs Gabriel Diallo

Day 6 at ATP Toronto will see the last Canadian standing, Gabriel Diallo, in action against second seed Taylor Fritz in a match that promises fireworks. It is among several other matches lined up as we approach the quarterfinal stage. Who will make it to the last eight?

ATP Toronto Day 6 Predictions

Flavio Cobolli vs Fabian Marozsan

Head–to–Head: Cobolli 1 vs 0 Marozsan

Flavio Cobolli made nine double faults in a stuttering performance but still managed to defeat Alexis Galarneau in three sets to progress to the third round in Toronto. He appeared to struggle at times against the world number 193, but he managed to get over the line and will face Fabian Marozsan, who stunned home favourite Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets. The Hungarian was behind in both sets but made a strong comeback, effectively moving Auger-Aliassime around the court with his excellent shot selection and handling the conditions much better.

Cobolli leads the head-to-head 1-0, but this will be their first match on hard courts. The Italian has been on court way more than his opponent over the last fortnight, giving Marozsan the advantage if the match goes the distance, and the likelihood is that it will.

Prediction: Marozsan in 3

Frances Tiafoe vs Aleksandar Vukic

Head–to–Head: Tiafoe 0 vs 1 Vukic

Tiafoe has had an up-and-down 2025 season but remains a dangerous opponent capable of beating top-tier players when in rhythm. His recent performances in North America have been solid, and he’ll be eager to build momentum heading into the US Open swing.

On the other side of the net, Aleksandar Vukic has quietly established himself as a gritty and tenacious competitor, stringing together a few deep runs in ATP 250 and Challenger events after a horrendous start to the year, when he went on a ten-match winless streak.

While the Aussie lacks the flash of Tiafoe, he makes up for it with a disciplined baseline game and a willingness to grind through long rallies. Vukic has proven to be a different beast on hardcourts, and he may just have enough to upend the American in what is poised to be a physical battle.

Prediction: Vukic in 3

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina vs Jakub Mensik

Head–to–Head: Fokina 3 vs 1 Mensik

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina passed a difficult test in the second round. He secured a straight-sets victory over the tricky Corentin Moutet after the week he lost yet another title in Washington despite serving for the championship. He showed no signs of exhaustion or mental breakdown as he won 6-4, 6-3, at one stage, winning six consecutive service games and managing to fend off a resurgence from Moutet in the second set, to set a third-round clash with Jakub Mensik.

Mensik earned his first win on hard courts since his Miami Open win in March by defeating Tristan Boyer 6-4, 6-4 while managing to keep his serve intact, despite needing to save seven break points. His powerful serve continues to be his reliable weapon, with the 19-year-old winning almost all his first serve points and delivering 13 aces.

Davidovich Fokina holds a 3-1 advantage in their head-to-head matchups and is 2-0 when playing on outdoor hard courts. Earlier this year, they engaged in a thrilling five-set contest in the third round of the Australian Open, and we expect the same result here.

Prediction: Davidovich Fokina in 3

Taylor Fritz vs Gabriel Diallo

Head–to–Head: Fritz 1 vs 0 Diallo

After four Canadians were eliminated in the second round, including Denis Shapovalov and Felix Auger-Aliassime, Gabriel Diallo ensured that at least one Canadian would advance to the third round of their home event, defeating Matteo Gigante in straight sets. Diallo is the only representative remaining. Although he wasn’t at his peak performance, he rallied from a 5-2 deficit in the second set, saving two set points to secure a 6-3, 7-6 victory.

In the third round, he faces a more formidable challenge against second seed Taylor Fritz, who came through a tough match against Roberto Carballes Baena in the last round, winning 7-5, 7-6. The American faced some pressure, having been broken while serving for the first set and being down a break for much of the second set. Carballes Baena played well and even had a chance to serve for the set, but he double-faulted at a crucial moment.

Fritz and Diallo met for the first time just last month at Wimbledon, where Fritz triumphed in a thrilling five-set match. With the support of a home crowd, the Canadian has the potential to challenge Fritz, and with the way the American struggled in the previous round, an upset could be on the cards.

Prediction: Diallo in 3
