Elena Rybakina and Emma Raducanu shining bright at Citi Open

The 2025 Citi Open has shown us that two players with iffy forms coming together can solve a lot for both players. The pair of Elena Rybakina and Emma Raducanu are doing wonders in Washington D.C. With minimal experience on a doubles court ,they still are finding a way to knock down other pairs. Not only has this improved their chances of a doubles title, but they look much better in their singles matches as well.

In their most recent match the pair saw off Giuliana Olmos and Aldila Sutjiada in straight sets, beating them 7-6 6-4. With this win, Rybakina and Raducanu progressed to the semifinals, where they will face the second seeded team of Taylor Townsend and Zhang Shuai. Both Rybakina and Raducanu have served extremely well and their net game has also improved. The combination of this has been the architect in their wins on the doubles court.

At the same time, their numbers when it comes to first serves and net points won have also increased in their singles matches. It leaves an impression that playing doubles has given them a different weapon for their singles matches. Raducanu in her latest singles match took down former #1 Naomi Osaka with some impeccable serving and turning defence into attack regularly. Rybakina too has used the serve card and followed with a net approach in her wins, the most recent against Victoria Mboko.

The pair is having a great time together and separately as well. With their form being iffy in the previous 1.5 years, they seem to have found great rhythm just at the start of the North American swing. Rybakina will be up against Magdalena Frech and Raducanu will be taking on Maria Sakkari in their respective singles quarterfinal matches.
