Despite winning almost everything that exists in the sport of tennis, Novak Djokovic has made it a habit to find something new to add to his already impressive list of records. In the newly updated rankings, Djokovic has earned himself another milestone that previously only two players had achieved. Djokovic becomes the third and the only currently playing player to reach this mark.
Novak Djokovic Reaches another Milestone
The Serbian great has now completed 900 weeks as a Top 10 player on the ATP Tour. The only two players to have previously done this are his greatest rivals Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Federer stayed in the Top 10 for a celebrated 968 weeks and Nadal stayed amongst the ten best players for 912 weeks.
By reaching his 900th week, Djokovic has once again stamped himself in a record previously owned by Federer and Nadal. Apart from this special achievement, Djokovic has had many rankings-related records to his name–most famously the 428 weeks as the top player in the world. A list on which Federer (310) is in second place and Nadal (209) is in sixth.
Djokovic as always will look to become a sole topper in any record and it will be interesting to see if he can stay fit enough to be in the Top 10 as long as his peers did. The Serb recently announced that he would be skipping Toronto Masters to get enough rest before he enters Cincinnati Masters and eventually the US Open. Djokovic has historically planned his schedules well and has added years to his career in this way.
