Novak Djokovic will look to breach 25th Grand Slam mark at Wimbledon

It’s been very unusual for tennis fans to not see Novak Djokovic go to the podium and receive a Grand Slam trophy for the last 1.5 years now. His last Grand Slam win was at the 2023 US Open when he beat Daniil Medvedev in the final. He beat the Russian in straight sets. The Serb is 38 years old and certainly the challenges of age are slowly starting to be seen. Incredibly fit throughout his career, Djokovic has made sure he keeps himself as far as possible injuries and aging athlete concerns. However, in recent times he has been found wanting in the five set format where he is unable to stack up performance after performance.

Chasing Grand Slam number 25

The Serb has almost won everything to be won in the game. He also won the Olympic gold medal last year, a title that eluded him for long. However, the champion he is he would want to find more things to ace in when it comes to tennis. He currently is the joint highest when it comes to Grand Slam titles as he shares the record of 24 with Margaret Court.

For a long time now Djokovic is chasing that 25th Grand Slam. It would put him ahead of everyone else to have played the game. With every passing Grand Slam, one question arises, does the Serb still have it in him to win a Slam? Young guns like Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz displaying high skill will surely make it difficult for Djokovic. Despite that fans will believe that Djokovic will bounce back.

Wimbledon: Djokovic’s best chance

A record seven titles at the Wimbledon Championships, which is second to Roger Federer’s eight. Djokovic will be eager to equal the Swiss maestro this Wimbledon. Many feel the grass Grand Slam presents Djokovic his best chance to lift a Grand Slam. The less wear and tear on the surface and his incredible knowledge about the courts holds him in good stead.

He certainly will enter the Slam as one of the favorites to win. Audiences and tennis pundits feel the clay has a lot of wear and tear on the athlete so winning a French Open might be a difficult task for the Serb. They believe might do well on the hard courts. The grass would still assist him better against some fine young talent. Djokovic would prepare incredibly well and will look to welcome the Centre Court roar in favor of him.
