ATP Stuttgart Quarterfinal Predictions
Felix Auger-Aliassime vs Justin Engel
Head-to-head – First Meeting
Felix Auger-Aliassime has tapered off from the bright start he had to the year. The Canadian failed to make an impression during the clay court season but grass courts should yield better results. He faces 17-year-old rising future star in Justin Engel, who has impressed in his first two matches this year. Expect Engel to entertain but Auger-Aliassime looks stronger from the baseline.
Prediction: Auger-Aliassime in 3
Taylor Fritz vs Marton Fucsovics
Head-to-head – Fritz 2-1 Fucsovics
Taylor Fritz looked good in his first match post a first round loss at the French Open. The American won in straight sets but his quarterfinal opponent who is a qualifier but he is pretty well known on the tour. Marton Fucsovics does know what it takes to beat Fritz especially at this tournament two years back. Expect a tight battle with Fritz just coming out on top because of his more solid serve.
Prediction: Fritz in 3
Jiri Lehecka vs Ben Shelton
Head-to-head – First Meeting
This is so close to call. Jiri Lehecka has a fantastic baseline game and has played extremely well in the two matches he has played this week. Ben Shelton on the other hand does possess the better serve and his game does suit the grass courts. Expect a very close battle with Shelton edging on the back of his attacking serve and volley game which should frustrate Lehecka.
Prediction: Shelton in 3
Alexander Zverev vs Brandon Nakashima
Head-to-head – Zverev 3-0 Nakashima
It will be interesting to see how well Alexander Zverev plays this week. He endured a disappointing loss at the French Open but every week is a fresh start. He now takes on Brandon Nakashima who did play well this week but does look overpowered when compared to Zverev’s baseline game. Expect Zverev to put up a strong performance.
Prediction: Zverev in 2
