Coco Gauff Crosses $5 Million In 2025 Prize Money After French Open Win

Coco Gauff exceeded the $5 million mark in prize money for the 2025 season thanks to her maiden French Open singles win. Gauff beat rival Aryna Sabalenka 6-7 6-2 6-4 in a gripping final to land her second Grand Slam crown.

The American had not dropped a set all tournament. She overcame the disappointment of throwing away a winning lead in the first-set tie-break to prevail in three sets. Gauff is the first American woman to win the French Open since her childhood idol Serena Williams a decade ago.

Gauff Earned $2.9 Million In Tournament Prize Money For French Open Win

Gauff ranked fourth in the season’s prize money standings with $2,786,111. By winning the French Open, she received €2,550,000 in prize money (approximately $2.9 million based on current exchange rates). That takes her earnings past five million. She is now the second-highest prize money earner in 2025, behind Sabalenka, who pocketed less as a runner-up, but still leads the overall standings with nearly $6 million.

With half of the season gone and still two Majors to play for in the next four months, Gauff has plenty of time to overtake Sabalenka in this race. Wimbledon and the US Open have not released their prize money details for the current season, but figures are expected to be in line with or even better than what the first two Grand Slams offered. It would mean that the winner can bank in excess of $3 million.

Last year, Gauff stumbled in the last 16 stage at Wimbledon and the US Open, but finished the season as one of the highest earners following her WTA Finals triumph, where she earned the biggest paycheck in a singles women’s tournament.

Prize money equity is one of the most discussed agendas on tour among tournament stakeholders and journalists, and the encouraging news of increased payouts in women’s tournaments has certainly provided major incentives for lower-ranked players looking to make ends meet.
