ATP Rome Day 4 Predictions
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina vs Jesper de Jong
Head-to-head – First Meeting
Jesper de Jong has come through qualifying and impressed in his first round as well. He takes on Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, who would love a good week here. The Spaniard has been in nice touch this year and while de Jong has held his own, he should be out powered by Fokina.
Prediction: Davidovich Fokina in 2
Sebastian Ofner vs Frances Tiafoe
Head-to-head – Ofner 0-1 Tiafoe
Sebastian Ofner could be the dark horse this week. The Austrian hasn’t played much this year but has played solid tennis this week coming through qualifying. Frances Tiafoe is not his best on the clay courts but should be able to get through based on his experience and variety but it will be a struggle.
Prediction: Tiafoe in 3
Jaume Munar vs Ben Shelton
Head-to-head – Munar 1-1 Shelton
This one should be an interesting one. Jaume Munar hasn’t quite lit up the clay courts this year and did struggle in his first round match. That being said, he defends well and he will have to be at his best against in form Ben Shelton. Expect a tight battle but with Shelton’s serve yielding him free points he should be able to pull through.
Prediction: Shelton in 3
Fabian Marozsan vs Andrey Rublev
Head-to-head – Marozsan 1-2 Rublev
Fabian Marozsan is a fantastic talent, and he should be fancying his chances of an upset here. Andrey Rublev hasn’t had any form during the clay court season and while he will no doubt continue to be aggressive, Marozsan is looking more consistent at the moment. An upset looks likely here.
Prediction: Marozsan in 3
