Six of the eight seeds have made it to the quarterfinals at the ATP 250 in Marrakech, including finalists from recent editions like Roberto Carballes Baena and Alexandre Muller. We’ve witnessed some brilliant stories like Vit Kopriva securing his Top 100 debut in a thriller or Kamil Majchrzak’s first main tour run since the suspension. Who do you think will make the final four?
ATP Marrakech Quarterfinal Predictions
Roberto Carballes Baena vs Nuno Borges
Head-to-head: Borges 1-0
Nuno Borges was struggling on return all the way through the deciding set against Raphael Collignon, but then played a perfect tie-break with three aces and two pinpoint backhands down-the-line. This is tricky though as he’s facing the biggest star of this event from the last two years (2023 title, 2024 final). Roberto Carballes Baena can play a bit more offensively than usual in these slight altitude conditions and is the more reliable player overall. He might have more left in store in terms of his Marrakech runs.
Prediction: Carballes Baena in 3
Alexandre Muller vs Kamil Majchrzak
Head-to-head: First meeting
Kamil Majchrzak slowed down when nearing the Top 100 after a fantastic resurgence last season, but now he’s finally back with a main tour run. His aggressive game cooperates with the quicker conditions in Marrakech very well. But so does Alexandre Muller’s with the Frenchman claiming titles like the San Marino Challenger at similar altitude before. The World No. 41 took his game to a level nobody expected this year and his relentless consistency off the ground might get him over the line here.
Prediction: Muller in 3
Luciano Darderi vs Vit Kopriva
Head-to-head: Kopriva 3-1
Vit Kopriva has secured his Top 100 debut with a 7-match winning streak that included beating Luciano Darderi in the Naples final on Sunday. But maybe Darderi can get his revenge here? The one thing going for him in Naples was the serve +1 offense he was able to produce, this could be even tougher to contain in the quick, sunny conditions in Marrakech. And Kopriva must have expended so much mental energy yesterday when he almost blew it from 6-2 5-1 up against Lorenzo Sonego
Prediction: Darderi in 3
Tallon Griekspoor vs Mattia Bellucci
Head-to-head: First meeting
A couple of years ago, Mattia Bellucci wasn’t too comfortable on clay courts, ultimately fine-tuning his game to succeed on this surface as well. But some of his lefty serve firepower or the forehand slices don’t have as much impact here. While the Marrakech conditions help him out, Tallon Griekspoor will bring in plenty of pace he can bother him with off the ground. The top seed has such a strong serve +1 game to rely on and might be able to rush Bellucci enough to win somewhat comfortably.
Prediction: Griekspoor in 2
