The 2025 edition of the ATP Bucharest Open sees the clay-court swing get underway in earnest with a number of entertaining first-round matches on the slate on day two in the Romanian capital. As always, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for every match on the slate, including Luca Nardi vs Marton Fucsovics and Roberto Bautista Agut vs Bu Yunchaokete. But who will advance?
ATP Bucharest Day 2 Predictions
Filip Misovic vs Alexander Shevchenko
Head-to-head: first meeting
Filip Misolic does not have much experience at this level and while the Austrian did come through qualifying, he will most likely be out played in the main draw. He faces Alexander Shevchenko who himself likely doesn’t have much confidence coming into this tournament after a string of disappointing results, but he is more experienced and should be the favourite for the win.
Prediction: Shevchenko in 2

Christopher O’Connell vs Dusan Lajovic
Head-to-head: first meeting
Christopher O’Connell has been doing well to qualify for a number of main draws recently but hasn’t quite been able to back it up in the tournament proper. The Australian faces Dusan Lajovic who has had a pretty bad start to 2025. The Serbian hasn’t won many matches on the stretch but maybe clay courts change that. He has after all been ranked as high as world #23 and reached the 2019 Monte Carlo Masters final. Expect O’Connell to start fast but as the match progresses Lajovic should be able to open up the court with his superior clay-court nous and manage to wrestle control of the match.
Prediction: Lajovic in 3

Stan Wawrinka vs Timofey Skatov
Head-to-head: first meeting
In a battle between youth and experience, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top. Timofey Skatov is 24-years-old and this will be his first main draw match. He takes on three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka who is now 40-years-old. On clay maybe it will be easier for Wawrinka to generate some time on the ball and try to play himself in. If that happens, even in his fifth decade Wawrinka should have the power to hit through Skatov.
Prediction: Wawrinka in 2
