ATP Miami Day 6 Predictions Including Taylor Fritz vs Denis Shapovalov

Day 6 at the ATP Masters 1000 in Miami will feature the conclusion of the third round, with several mouthwatering matchups in prospect. It is a tournament defined by its unpredictability, as shown by the fact that all four semifinalists last week in Indian Wells were eliminated in their first match here in Miami. It is very hard to predict who will take the title, with many players surely believing they have a great chance to do so.

ATP Miami Day 6 Predictions

Adam Walton vs Chak Lam Coleman Wong

Head-to-head: Wong 1-0 Walton

On paper this is the least glamorous match of the day by far, but both players have got to this stage playing some really good tennis, with Wong even scoring a huge upset over Ben Shelton. If Wong can maintain the level he showed in that match, he should have the edge here, as he did when the pair faced last year in a Challenger event in Thailand.
Prediction: Wong in 3

Alex de Minaur vs João Fonseca

Head-to-head: first meeting

This will most likely be the most hyped match of the day in Miami, with a huge contingent of Brazilian supporters backing the fast rising Fonseca as he tries to claim another big victory. Given how Fonseca has been playing so far this year, this already feels like a 50/50 match that could go either way, a battle between De Minaur’s consistency and Fonseca’s insane but still raw firepower that could well go the distance. At this point, smart money would still be on the Australian, but especially with the backing of the crowd Fonseca definitely has the ability to make an upset here.

Alexander Zverev vs Jordan Thompson

Head-to-head: Zverev 2-2 Thompson

Zverev might be the #1 seed but he doesn’t really feel like a favorite here, especially given his level and results after the Australian Open. That said, you have to imagine that he will have another big run very soon and this might well be the place, what with the court conditions looking favorable to him here. Thompson has been a difficult opponent for him in the past, but the German should be able to advance here.

Prediction: Zverev in 2

Taylor Fritz vs Denis Shapovalov

Head-to-head: Shapovalov 6-4 Fritz

This is already a well-established rivalry on the tour, with ten previous meetings and very balanced results. Their previous matchup was in Dallas this year, with Shapovalov winning in the third set tiebreak en route to his first career ATP 500 title. The Canadian is showing big signs of improving this year and looks set to at least reenter the top 20 soon, while Fritz has been struggling quite a bit after an incredible end of 2024 that saw him reach his first Slam final and go all the way up to #4 in the rankings. It will almost surely be an extremely close match decided by very fine margins, but Shapovalov might well just edge it again.
Prediction: Shapovalov in 3
