ATP Acapulco Best Bets Including Shapovalov vs Davidovich Fokina

ATP 500 Acapulco semifinals

Machac – Nakashima: 01.03.2025 02:00 CEST
H2H: first meeting

Tomas Machac has won four of his last five matches. The last match he played before the ATP 500 Acapulco was in Dallas two weeks ago. So far this season, Tomas has played in the United Cup, at the Australian Open, and in Dallas. It is his first appearance in Acapulco. In the opening round, as we predicted, Machac won against Mensik in three sets. Tomas defeated Altmaier in straight sets in the second round, as we predicted. Yesterday, in the quarterfinals, Machac defeated Tien in straight sets, as we predicted. Around this time last season, Tomas played in Dubai, losing in the opening main draw round against Bublik in three tight sets.

Brandon Nakashima has won four of his last five matches. The last match he played before the ATP 500 Acapulco was in Delray Beach, where he lost in the quarterfinals against Arnaldi. Brandon won the opening round match against Bonzi in straight sets this week in Acapulco. He trailed 1-4 in the second set but successfully turned it around. In the second round, Rune retired mid-match against Nakashima in the opening set. Yesterday, in the quarterfinals, Brandon won against Goffin in straight sets.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Machac is the favorite in this matchup, and we agree. Tomas is in great form and is a better player overall than Nakashima. Before the ATP 500 Acapulco, Brandon struggled with his form. He has had a favorable draw so far, and we believe he will be stopped by Machac tonight.

That being said, Machac winning is a value bet.

Shapovalov – Davidovich Fokina: 01.03.2025 03:30 CEST
H2H: 1-0

Denis Shapovalov has won eight straight matches. His last match before the ATP 500 Acapulco was in Dallas two weeks ago. As we had predicted, he won the title against Ruud in the final. It is his third appearance in Acapulco. In the opening round, Denis won against Basavareddy in straight sets. He saved a set point in the opening set. Denis defeated Michelsen in straight sets in the second round, as we had predicted. He was the better player from the start until the end. Yesterday, in the quarterfinals, Shapovalov defeated Giron in three tight sets.

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina has won four of his last five matches. Alejandro played in the final against Kecmanovic two weeks ago in Delray Beach. He was 5-2 up in the deciding set and had consecutive match points but fumbled under pressure. This week in Acapulco, Alejandro won the opening round match against Bellucci after losing the first set 1-6. Alejandro saved four consecutive match points in the second set tiebreak. In the second round, the Spaniard defeated Tiafoe in three sets. Yesterday, in the quarterfinals, Alejandro defeated Pacheco Mendez 6-2 6-2.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Shapovalov is the slight favorite in this matchup, and we agree. Denis is in great form and thrives on fast, hard courts. We expect him to dominate in this match and prolong his winning streak.

That being said, Shapovalov winning is a value bet.
