The 2025 ATP Qatar Open promises to be a tennis spectacle. The newly upgraded ATP 500 tournament marks the start of the famed Middle East Swing on the men’s side.
Top seed Jannik Sinner, World No. 3 Carlos Alcaraz, and 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic lead a formidable lineup of 32 men in singles. In total, ten of the world’s Top 20 players will be in action in Doha.
Russia’s Karen Khachanov hoisted the Golden Falcon trophy last year after beating NextGen star Jakub Mensik in the final. Khachanov will be unseeded during his title defense but the Czech teenager misses out for an undisclosed reason.
Three players have received wild card entries into the main draw.
Three Players Receive ATP Qatar Open Wild Cards
The first man to receive a wild card for this year’s Qatar Open is Hady Habib. The 26-year-old made history at last month’s Australian Open when he became the first Lebanese player to qualify and win a main draw match in a Grand Slam. Habib is almost guaranteed a hero’s welcome in what will be his first ATP tournament since his Melbourne heroics.
Second on this list is World No. 223 Aziz Dougaz. The Tunisian fell in the qualifying rounds in his lone appearance in Doha three years ago. He qualified for his maiden Grand Slam main draw at the 2025 Australian Open but owns one win in his last seven matches in all competitions.
The third name on the list is World No. 265 Abdullah Shelbayh. The Jordanian is highly regarded as one of the finest talents to come from the Middle East and is a graduate of the Rafa Nadal Academy. This will be his third main draw appearance in Doha. Shelbayh lost in the first round in each of his last two visits and is due to play in the quarterfinals of the Tenerife Challenger at the time of writing.
One Player To Use Protected Ranking
Croatia’s Marin Cilic will use a protected ranking to play in Doha. The injury-prone Cilic hasn’t featured in 2025 and last played on the ATP Tour in November when he lost to Jiri Lehecka in Belgrade.
Main draw action in Doha begins on Monday, February 17.
