Richard Gasquet has lost three of his last five matches. At the beginning of the season, Richard failed to qualify for the main draw tournament in Brisbane. A week later, Richard failed to qualify for the Australian Open, losing against Ajdukovic in straight sets. In Montpellier, Gasquet dominated against his fellow compatriot, Adrian Mannarino, in the opening round. He won in straight sets without offering any breakpoints. Last year in Montpellier, Richard lost in the opening round against Llamas Ruiz in straight sets. Gasquet won the title in Montpellier four times already.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Griekspoor is the favorite in this matchup, and we agree. Tallon is currently a better player than Gasquet. Adrian’s poor performance was the main reason why Gasquet dominated against Mannarino. The last time Richard had consecutive wins was over four months ago. We expect Tallon to dominate in this matchup.
That being said, Griekspoor winning in straight sets is a value bet.

Flavio Cobolli has lost three of his last five matches. He started this season well, winning 2/3 matches in the United Cup. Two weeks ago in Melbourne, Flavio lost in the opening round of the Australian Open against Etcheverry in four tight sets. It will be his second appearance in Montpellier. Last year in Montpellier, Cobolli reached the quarterfinals, losing against Borna Coric in straight sets.
Jesper de Jong has lost four of his last five matches. So far this season, De Jong has played in three tournaments and lost every time in the opening round. Last week in Oeiras, Jesper lost against Draxl in straight sets under conditions similar to Montpellier’s. Today in the opening round, Halys retired in the second set against de Jong. Last year in Montpellier, Jesper lost in the opening qualifying round against Blanchet in straight sets. He has been lurking around the top 100 rankings for a while. He hopes to get there this season.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Cobolli is the slight favorite in this matchup, but we disagree. De Jong played well in the opening match against Halys today. On the other hand, Cobolli has a three-match losing streak and has not had any remarkable results on indoor courts so far in his career. We expect a tight match that could go either way.
That being said, de Jong covering the games handicap is a value bet.
