Reigning Champions Sinner and Sabalenka Lead Australian Open Seeds

Top-ranked Jannik Sinner is preparing to defend his title at the Australian Open, where he holds the top seed position as the tournament announced the complete list of 32 seeds on Wednesday.

World #2 Alexander Zverev occupies the second seed in Melbourne, while Carlos Alcaraz, who aims to be the youngest player to achieve a career Slam, is in third place. The record 10-time champion, Novak Djokovic, is placed seventh.

Three-time finalist Daniil Medvedev, who announced the birth of his second child on Tuesday, is seeded fifth and must be fired up to go one step further to win his second Major title.

In last year’s final, Sinner rallied from a two-set deficit against Medvedev to claim his first of two Major championships.

On the women’s side, defending champion and World #1 Aryna Sabalenka is the top seed, with rival Iga Swiatek second and American phenom Coco Gauff third.

The draws are scheduled to be revealed Thursday, January 9 at Melbourne Park.
