ATP Adelaide Day 2 Predictions Including Alexander Bublik vs Miomir Kecmanovic

First-round action continues at the ATP Adelaide International with eight matches on Tuesday. The most interesting match of the day pits the mercurial Alexander Bublik against Serbia’s Miomir Kecmanovic. Four of those matches are covered in this article. Who do you think will progress?

ATP Adelaide Day 2 Predictions

Aleksandar Vukic vs Marcos Giron

Head-to-head: first meeting

Vukic and Giron have played each other on the lower levels, but this will be their first meeting on the ATP Tour. Giron is coming off a career-best season in 2024 where he won a maiden Tour-level title. While Vukic did not celebrate lifting any silverware last year, he made deep runs in majority of these smaller tournaments. I think he is the aggressor of the two in this match, with his forehand likely to cause enough damage to secure a second win of the new season.
Prediction: Vukic in 2

Brandon Nakashima vs Yannick Hanfmann

Head-to-head: Nakashima 1-0 Hanfmann

Nakashima is chasing his first win of the season after underachieving in Brisbane. But losing to a big hitter in Lorenzo Sonego on a hard court is not the most disappointing result. So, this should be a very kind draw for him to bounce back in style. Hanfmann is almost invariably harmless on this surface.

David Goffin vs Rinky Hijikata

Head-to-head: Goffin 1-0 Hijikata

Hijikata is winless in two previous appearances in Adelaide and gets a lucky loser entry to try and address that record. Goffin has had a phenomenal turnaround when you consider he was outside the top 100 at this time last year. He did touch the top 50, but only briefly at the halfway point last season. While he lacks the stamina of his former self, Goffin’s overall solidity wins the day here.
Prediction: Goffin in 3

Alexander Bublik vs Miomir Kecmanovic

Head-to-head: Kecmanovic 2-1 Bublik

Bublik is starting his 2025 campaign in Adelaide which is understandable after shutting down his 2024 season in early December (competed in the UTS Grand Final). He tends to be a slow starter although he was a semifinalist in this tournament 12 months ago. But he doesn’t have the luxury of drawing a player outside the Top 100 to ease his way. Kecmanvoic had two matches in Hong Kong and was the closest to almost beat eventual champion Muller.
Prediction: Kecmanovic in 3
