Alcaraz and Fritz first two players confirmed for Laver Cup 2025

Carlos Alcaraz and Taylor Fritz are the first two names confirmed for the Laver Cup in 2025, set to take place from September 19-21 at the Chase Center in San Francisco.

The eighth edition of the prestigious event will mark the tournament’s debut in the Bay Area.

Alcaraz and Fritz confirm spots in 2025 Laver Cup

Four-time Grand Slam champion Alcaraz, who made Laver Cup history in his tournament debut last season by contributing a record eight points for Team Europe in their victory in Berlin, will return to the event for the second time next season.

The 21-year-old Spaniard, who also confirmed his return to Queen’s in 2025 last week, will aim to emulate his fantastic 2024 Laver Cup performance in San Francisco next year.

Fritz, who enjoyed his best season to date by making his first-ever Grand Slam final and reaching a career-high ranking of World No.4, returns to Team World for the fifth time next year and will hope to get revenge after his side’s narrow defeat in 2024.

“I am pumped to represent Team World once again,” said Fritz. “The atmosphere, camaraderie, team chemistry and excitement of the Laver Cup is unlike any other tournament.  I’m sure the energy will be amazing and hopefully the home fans will come out in force to support us in San Francisco. We really want the Laver Cup back!”

The American, who was defeated by Alcaraz in the decisive match that clinched Team Europe’s victory last year, holds a strong 5-2 record at the Laver Cup and contributed to Team World’s first-ever victory at the tournament in London in 2022. He’ll look to replicate his success from two years ago in front of a home crowd next year.
