Tallon Griekspoor – Zizou Bergs
Tallon and Zizou are the best ranked players for the Netherlands and Belgium. This meeting will be played indoors on hard. Griekspoor reached the third round of the US Open, where he lost against Dimitrov in straight sets. So far this season, Tallon has had some solid results, but has been inconsistent lately on the tour. Bergs reached the second round in New York, where he lost against Cobolli in four sets. Zizou had his biggest results this season at the challenger tour level. Those results helped him cement his top 100 spot.
We believe that Grieskpoor will be a better player on the court tomorrow. He is a more experienced player than Bergs, and loves to play on the fast indoor courts. Bergs is a solid challenger tour player, but we believe that he is still not ready for the biggest stage.
That being said, we believe that Griekspoor will get the first win for the Netherlands.
2nd potential matchup:
Botic Van de Zandschulp – Raphael Collignon
Botic and Raphael are the second best ranked players for the Netherlands and Belgium. Van de Zandschulp reached the third round of the US Open, where he lost against Draper in straight sets. En route to the third round, Van de Zandschulp upset Shapovalov and Alcaraz in straight sets, and surprised everyone. Raphael Collignon is lurking around the top 200. The young Belgian will play the biggest match of his career tomorrow. So far in his career, Collignon has spent most of his time at the ITF/Challenger level. He had his biggest results on the clay courts.
We believe that Van de Zandschulp will dominate from the very start, and get the second win for the Netherlands. He is overall a better and more experienced player than Collignon.
3rd potential matchup:
Haase/Koolhof – Gille/Vliegen
We expect the Netherlands and Belgium to play their doubles matches like this. Robin Haase has played with a couple of different doubles partners this season. His last match was at the US Open, where he played with Arends. Haase and Arends lost in the first round against Bopanna and Ebden. Koolhof is playing with Mektic right now. They reached the quarterfinals in New York, where they lost against Lammonst and Withrow in three tight sets. Gille and Vliegen have been playing together for a long time now. They are experienced doubles partners with some solid results behind them. Gille and Vliegen lost in the second round of the US Open against Arevalo and Pavic.
Gille and Vliegen have been playing together for a long time now. We believe that this will be the main factor in this match. That being said, we expect them to win and get the first win for Belgium.
Best Bet to Make
We believe that both the Netherlands will win both their singles matches. However, Belgium has better doubles partners at this moment, so we expect them to win one match.
That being said, the Netherlands winning 2-1 is a value bet.
