Day 4 at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Montreal will feature a couple of rained-out matches of the second round plus all of the Round of 16, at least assuming the weather allows it. With the likes of Djokovic and Alcaraz not taking part and Medvedev already eliminated, many players will see this as a great opportunity for a big run or even a title. One of them is Alexander Zverev, who is a former champion at this tournament and could move up to No. 2 in the world with a title this week. But who will advance to the ATP Montreal quarterfinals?
ATP Montreal Day 4 Predictions
Grigor Dimitrov vs Alexei Popyrin
Head-to-head: Dimitrov 1-1 Popyrin
Dimitrov has been having a career renaissance in the past year but has come up short in two Masters 1000 finals he reached against the likes of Djokovic and Sinner. This week looks like another opportunity for a deep run and he should be extra confident after only dropping one game against Hijikata in his first match. Popyrin has been playing quite well here in Canada, but Dimitrov should have the edge.

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina vs Matteo Arnaldi
Head-to-head: first meeting
Given the draw as it stands right now, both players have an excellent opportunity to reach the semifinal here, with the winner of this match facing either Nishikori or Borges in the quarterfinals. For Arnaldi, it is a big chance for a first semifinal at this level, while for Fokina, it would be a repeat of last year’s great run in this tournament. On paper, the players are evenly matched, so it should be a very interesting and tight match, decided by small margins. Fokina will be feeling extra confident here after his amazing win over Medvedev today, though, and that could make the difference in his favour.

Alexander Zverev vs Holger Rune
Head-to-head: Zverev 1-1 Rune
Their previous matchup at Roland Garros was a very high-quality affair, which Zverev won in 5 sets en route to the final. On a hard court, Zverev should theoretically have an even bigger edge at this point, but Rune is a talented player who can definitely beat anyone on any given day. Zverev’s results after losing the Roland Garros final have been far from stellar, and he desperately needs good results here and in Cincinnati to regain confidence and momentum ahead of the US Open. Even if he struggles, he should find a way through here.
