ATP Masters 1000 Montreal 1/16-Finals
Kokkinakis – Hurkacz: 09.08.2024 02:30 CEST
H2H: 1-3
Thanasi Kokkinakis has won four of his last five matches. Here in Montreal, the Australians fought through the qualifying tournament. In the first qualifying round, Thanasi defeated Carballes Baena in straight sets. After that, in the final qualifying round, Kokkinakis faced another Spaniard. This time, Thanasi lost the first set against Bautista-Agut. However, he stepped up his game, and turned the match around. In the first main-draw round, Thanasi defeated Monfils in straight sets as we predicted. Last year in Toronto, Kokkinakis reached the second round of the tournament where he lost against Musetti in three tight sets.
Hubert Hurkacz has won three of his last five matches. The last match he played was at Wimbledon, where he retired mid-match against Fils in the second round. Due to his knee injury, Hubert skipped the Olympic Games. He said that the rehab was going fine, but he was still not ready for the tournament. We are not sure if he is ready for the Masters this week, but he will definitely try to play. Last year in Toronto, Hubert lost in the 1/8-Finals against Alcaraz in three tight sets.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Hurkacz is the slight favorite in this matchup. We are not sure if he is ready for his match against Kokkinakis. On the other hand, Thanasi dominated in the first round, and played great tennis throughout the whole tournament that week. We believe that he will be a tough opponent for Hurkacz, and keep this match tight.
That being said, Kokkinakis covering the games handicap is a value bet.

Korda – Fritz: 09.08.2024 02:30 CEST
H2H: 0-2
Sebastian Korda has won six straight matches. He finally found his form and won the title last week in Washington. En route to his title run, Korda just lost two sets, and was dominant throughout the whole tournament. This was his first title of the season. With his recent title win, Sebastian is a top 20 player. Here in Montreal, Vasek retired against Korda at the beginning of the first set. Last year in Toronto, Pospisil lost in the second round of the tournament against Vukic in three tight sets.
Taylor Fritz has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Paris, Fritz reached the 1/8-Finals of the Olympic Games, where he lost against Musetti in straight sets as we predicted. Here in Montreal, Fritz absolutely demolished Navone in straight sets as we predicted. So far this season, Fritz has won two titles. One was in Delray Beach on the hard court, and the other one was in Eastbourne on grass.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Fritz is the slight favorite in this matchup. Both players are playing great tennis at the moment, so we expect a tight match. They are both great servers, so we even expect a couple of tiebreaks.
That being said, over games is a value bet.
