ATP Kitzbuhel Day 3 Predictions Including Matteo Berrettini vs Alejandro Tabilo

Matteo Berrettini Australian Open

Can Matteo Berrettini pull off the altitude clay double? It’s not the first time he has triumphed in Gstaad and back in 2018, he went on to make Kitzbuhel quarterfinals the following week. Accumulated fatigue might become an issue at some point and he’ll have to be very sharp to take out second seed Alejandro Tabilo. We also predict the rest of the day’s matches in a separate article. Who do you think will make it to the next round at the ATP 250 in Kitzbuhel?

ATP Kitzbuhel Day 3 Predictions

Pedro Martinez vs Sumit Nagal

Head-to-head: Martinez 1-0

Sumit Nagal came back from 3-5 down in the deciding set against Lukas Klein and while he was a bit lucky there, once he was back into the match he was giving nothing for free to his opponent in the final tie-break. The Indian has been winning about 33% of his main tour matches since breaking the Top 100 and is mostly ranked high on his Challenger runs. Pedro Martinez can be somewhat mercurial, but he’s doing so well this season and was the runner-up in Kitzbuhel in 2021. Right now, he’s just a class above Nagal.
Prediction: Martinez in 2

Laslo Djere vs Thiago Seyboth Wild

Head-to-head: Djere 3-0

Laslo Djere hasn’t produced many impressive runs or wins this year, some of that due to the injury that took him out for two months in the middle of the clay swing. But the Serbian is back in decent shape now and usually performs well in Kitzbuhel, having made the 2020 and 2023 semifinals. The latter run included a win over Thiago Seyboth Wild and he’ll be the favorite over the Brazilian again. He’s just more solid and has that consistent weight of shot that gets tricky to handle at altitude.
Prediction: Djere in 3

Hugo Gaston vs Roberto Carballes Baena

Head-to-head: 1-1

It’s been an intense few weeks for Roberto Carballes Baena, who won one of the most stacked Challengers in Braunschweig before looking gassed during the Bastad quarterfinal run. He should be in better shape now though after getting a few days of rest. Things won’t be easy for him here though with Hugo Gaston really upping his form in the last month or so. It’s a huge stylistic contrast and their last match was extremely close. Carballes Baena’s sustained forehand offense might be enough for him to work the Frenchman around the court.
Prediction: Carballes Baena in 3

Matteo Berrettini vs Alejandro Tabilo

Head-to-head: Berrettini 1-0

Matteo Berrettini’s comeback this year has been pretty incredible. Not only did he give Jannik Sinner a real run for his money at Wimbledon, but he’s already picked up two titles as well. One of them came just last week in Gstaad, conditions that are very similar to the ones in Kitzbuhel. But the question is how the Italian holds up physically as the week goes on. Maybe he’s got one more win in him, but it won’t be easy against Alejandro Tabilo who’s at the peak of his powers this year.
Prediction: Berrettini in 3
