ATP Geneva final
Ruud – Machac: 25.05.2024 15:00 CEST
H2H: 1-0
Casper Ruud has won three of his last five matches. His form has been declining in recent weeks. In his first match here in Geneva, Ruud lost the first set against Ofner 4-6. However, once Casper picked up his form, Ofner did not have an answer for his game. Casper won the second and third sets 6-2 each. After that, Ruud had to fight hard against Baez in the quarterfinals. After just over two hours, Ruud defeated Baez in three tough sets as we predicted. Casper lost his serve three times, and was overall playing badly under pressure. Today, Ruud won against Cobolli in three sets as we predicted. After losing the first set 1-6, Ruud picked up his game and eventually completed the comeback. So far in Geneva, Ruud has not been playing his best tennis. It will be important for him to win this match to gain self-confidence for the French Open. Two weeks ago, Ruud lost his first match in Rome against Kecmanovic. Before that, Ruud was upset by Auger-Aliassime in the 1/8-Finals of the ATP Masters 1000 in Madrid. It is not mentioning that Ruud has already won two titles here in Geneva, his first one in 2021, and his last one in 2022. Last year, Ruud was stopped by Nicolas Jarry in the quarterfinal.
Tomas Machac has won four of his last five matches. A young Czech has been playing great tennis throughout the week. In the first round, Machac won against Draper in straight sets. After that, Machac lost the first set against Moreno De Alboran and was also struggling in the second set. However, Machac turned the match around and won in three sets. In the quarterfinals, Machac dominated against Michelsen in straight sets. Yesterday, Machac got his biggest victory of his young career. He managed to win against Novak Djokovic in three sets. Tomas was great under the pressure against Novak, and it seemed like he did not feel any pressure at all. After he won the first set, Novak started playing his best tennis by winning the second set 6-0. Machac stayed calm, and won the deciding set 6-1. He ended the match by hitting 21 winners with 17 unforced errors. Machac had a one-day rest, so we expect him to be ready today. He has not won any titles this season so far, so this would be the biggest match of the season for him.
Best Bet to Make
Casper Ruud just had a couple of hours’ rest before the final. Due to the bad weather, Ruud could not play his semifinal match yesterday. That being said, Ruud has already spent two hours on the court today. Machac showed better tennis throughout the tournament, and we believe that he has a decent chance at winning today. Machac also finished his semifinal match yesterday, so we expect him to be fit for this final match. The bookies still did not get us any odds, but we believe that Machac will be an underdog.
That being said, Machac winning is a value bet.
