ATP Lyon 1/8-Finals
Rinderknech – Tiafoe: 22.05.2024 14:00 CEST
H2H: first meeting
Arthur Rinderknech has lost three of his last five matches. So far this season, Rinderknech has not had any remarkable results. He is out of the top 70 in the rankings. Last week, Rinderknech lost in the first round of the ATP Masters 1000 in Rome against Passaro in three tight sets. Two days ago, Arthur won his first round match against Dan Evans after spending three hours on the court. Rinderknech served great, getting 20 aces, but still had to save one match point in order to win the match late in the third set in the tiebreak. Last year in Lyon, Rinderknech lost in the second round against Nakashima in three sets.
Frances Tiafoe has lost four of her last five matches. This has been one his worst seasons so far, leading to him dropping out of the top 20 in the rankings. After reaching the final in Houston where he lost against Ben Shelton, Tiafoe lost three straight matches. Last week in Rome, Tiafoe was defeated by Koepfer 4-6 2-6. Yesterday, Tiafoe managed to win against a very solid clay court player, Jaume Munar, in straight sets. Frances ended the match hitting 32 winners with just 10 unforced errors. It was overall a great performance from him.
Best Bet to Make
Arthur Rinderknech has not performed well on the clay so far this season. Frances Tiafoe played a better first-round match, and we believe that she will be able to reach the quarterfinals here easily.
That being said, Tiafoe winning is a value bet.
Value bet/ the best odds: Frances Tiafoe @1.57 @bet365
Gaston – Cerundolo: 22.05.2024 17:30 CEST
H2H: first meeting
Hugo Gaston is looking to get into his best form right before the French Open. So far this season, Gaston has underperformed with a couple of huge losing streaks. Here in Lyon, Gaston had to fight throughout the qualification tournament to get into the main draw. En route to the second round, Gaston won both of his qualifying matches in straight sets. Yesterday, Gaston won against Galan in two tiebreaks, spending almost three hours on the court. He will have just around 24 hours to rest and get ready for his todays´ match against Cerundolo.
Francisco Cerundolo has won three of his last five matches. Last week, Cerundolo reached the 1/16-Finals in Rome where he lost against Khachanov in straight sets. Before that, Cerundolo played a solid tournament in Madrid where he reached the quarterfinals and ended up losing in the quarterfinals against Fritz in a 3-setter. He is looking to win some points here in Lyon and later at the French Open to get back into the top 20. This will be his first match in the tournament because he is seeded, so expect him to be well rested.
Best Bet to Make
We believe that Cerundolo is overall a way better player at the moment than Gaston. Hugo Gaston also had a hard match yesterday and has already played three matches this week. Expect him to be exhausted tonight.
That being said, Cerundolo winning in straight sets is a value bet.
Value bet/ the best odds: Francisco Cerundolo winning 2-0 @2.10 @bet365
