The second round will be wrapped up on Thursday at the WTA 250 in Rabat. One of the blockbusters will be Camila Osorio against Laura Siegemund, with the experienced German battling against one of the most pure clay specialists on the WTA Tour. Who do you think will advance? We also look at the rest of the day’s matches in a separate article.
WTA Rabat Day 4 Predictions
Camilla Rosatello vs Kamilla Rakhimova
Head-to-head: First meeting
Camilla Rosatello qualified for this event and ended up defeating the top-seeded Yue Yuan for her best career-win. While you can definitely make the case that the Chinese is extra vulnerable on clay, it’s still a massive milestone for Rosatello and perhaps something that will push her career forward. For now, actually following up on that huge win might be even tougher than getting it in the first place. An experienced opponent like Kamilla Rakhimova will probably take her down.
Prediction: Rakhimova in 2
Yafan Wang vs Viktoriya Tomova
Head-to-head: Tomova 1-0
Yafan Wang hasn’t built her career on clay achievements, but the last few years she’s actually been getting excellent results on the dirt. Most of that came at the lower levels of competition though and it’s not a guarantee she’ll also produce it on the main tour. She couldn’t pick up a win in Madrid or Rome despite some decent draws. Viktoriya Tomova might be stronger than these opponents and the Bulgarian remains a very capable competitor. It’s enough to make her a slight favorite here.
Prediction: Tomova in 3
Camila Osorio vs Laura Siegemund
Head-to-head: First meeting
This is a pretty brilliant clash between one of the clay-court artists of the WTA circuit and all the experience of Laura Siegemund. Camila Osorio has been as good as usual on the dirt this year with a title in Bogota. The conditions in Rabat aren’t similar, but the way she directs the ball from corner to corner isn’t impacted. Siegemund will try to take her down quickly with Osorio’s point construction being a threat to her if the Colombian can start pushing her around the court.
Prediction: Osorio in 3
