ATP Rome Best Bets Including Tsitsipas vs Jarry

Stefanos Tsitsipas in action ahead of the French Open

ATP Rome quarterfinals

Hurkacz – Paul: 16.05.2024 Time TBA
H2H: 3-1

Hubert Hurkacz has won four of his last five matches. In the second round here in Rome, Hurkacz won against Nadal in straight sets as we predicted. Yesterday, Hurkacz won against Baez in a tight match as we predicted. He had to fight for almost three hours to get into the quarterfinals. Last week, Hurkacz lost in the 1/8-Finals of ATP Masters 1000 Madrid against Fritz in straight sets. Before that, Hubert had a solid tournament in Monte Carlo where he reached the 1/8-Finals as well. It is worth mentioning that, earlier in April, Hurkacz won a clay title in Estoril.

Tommy Paul has won four of his last five matches. Being an American, Paul rarely plays on the clay courts. He also has not had any remarkable results on clay so far in his young career. Last year in Rome, Paul lost his first match against Garin in three sets. However, so far in Rome, Paul has been playing great tennis. He is yet to lose a set in the tournament, winning all of his matches in straight sets. Yesterday, Paul won convincingly 6-1 6-4 against the last year’s Rome champion, Daniil Medvedev. Paul was flying all over the court and was hitting some big forehands.

Best Bet to Make

Hubert Hurkacz has more experience playing so deep at the Masters tournaments. We believe that his experience will prevail, and that he is a better clay court player than Tommy Paul.

That being said, Hurkacz winning is a value bet.

Tsitsipas – Jarry: 16.05.2024 Time TBA
H2H: 2-3

Stefanos Tsitsipas has won three of his last five matches. Before the ATP Masters 1000 in Rome, Stefanos was upset by Monteiro in straight sets in Madrid. A week before that, Stefanos reached the final in Barcelona, where he lost against Ruud in straight sets. So far in Rome, Tsitsipas has had three solid matches. His most challenging match was in the second round against Struff, where he had to fight for almost three hours to win against the German. After that, Tsitsipas won both of his matches easily in straight sets.

Nicolas Jarry is one of the most dangerous players on the tour when he has a good day. Unfortunately for him, his consistency is a big problem and that is the main reason why Jarry is not a top 10 player. So far in Rome, Jarry has lost only one set in the 1/16-Finals against Napolitano. So far this season, Jarry, reached the final in Buenos Aires, beating Alcaraz in the semifinals. Last year, around this time, Jarry won the title in Geneva, and shortly after that, reached the second week at the French Open.

Best Bet to Make

Looking at the head-to-head meetings, Jarry has a recipe to win against Tsitsipas. He has already won three times against him. According to the bookies, Jarry is a huge underdog. However, although we are not sure if he could upset Tsitsipas, we believe that Jarry will keep this match tight.

That being said, Jarry covering the games handicap is a value bet.
