WTA Bogota Day 3 Predictions Including Sara Errani vs Sara Sorribes Tormo

Sara Sorribes Tormo BNP Paribas Open-Day 8

Almost all first-round matches have been completed at the 2024 WTA Copa Calsanitas in Bogota with only Francesca Jones and Yuliana Monroy still in the middle of their encounter (the Brit leads 6-1 3-1). It’s time to get to the next stage of the event though with a brilliant matchup between Saras–Errani and Sorribes Tormo–being one of the highlights of the day. Who do you think will prevail?

WTA Bogota Day 3 Predictions

Laura Pigossi vs Irina Bara

Head-to-head: First meeting

Laura Pigossi scored a great win in the opening round, dispatching last week’s San Luis Potosi champion Nadia Podoroska. Both she and Irian Bara were taken out of that event by Elisabetta Cocciaretto and both didn’t stand much of a chance against the Italian with just a few games won each. Pigossi should be high on confidence after taking out Podoroska and she’s usually very dangerous on these courts with a final appearance in 2022 and a quarter-final last year.
Prediction: Pigossi in 3

Renata Zarazua vs Kamilla Rakhimova

Head-to-head: First meeting

Kamilla Rakhimova was in trouble against the 17-year-old Valentina Mediorreal Arias in the opening round, but it seemed that by the third set the Russian did make some progress in regards to controlling the ball a bit better in the tricky conditions. Now she gets to play Renata Zarazua, who snapped her losing streak with a double bagel over another Colombian wildcard here. Rakhimova might be a bit less used to the way the courts play, but her overall quality is much higher.
Prediction: Rakhimova in 2

Cristina Bucsa vs Jule Niemeier

Head-to-head: First meeting

Remembering some of her Grand Slam performances it will never not be surprising that Jule Niemeier is outside of the Top 100. Fast clay conditions should suit her on paper, but last week in San Luis Potosi she went out to Tamara Zidansek in the opening round. She’s got the weaponry to be a bit threat on these courts though and if they just go blow for blow, she’ll likely have more to give than Bucsa. But can she keep her error count in check?
Prediction: Niemeier in 3

Sara Errani vs Sara Sorribes Tormo

Head-to-head: Errani 6-0

Two types of players do well at altitude: big-hitters and those who can simply control the ball better in tricky conditions. Both Sara Errani and Sara Sorribes Tormo definitely fall into the latter category, and this could turn into a proper chess match with both players trying to outsmart one another. The massive lead in the head-to-head is a bit surprising, especially considering they played one match last year too. With Errani’s career coming to an end, this might be the best chance Sorribes Tormo ever had to outgrind her.
Prediction: Sorribes Tormo in 3
