WTA Indian Wells Day 4 Predictions Including Jessica Pegula vs Anna Blinkova

Jessica Pegula in action ahead of the US Open.

Day 4 of the WTA 1000 event in Indian Wells will see the conclusion of the second round on the women’s side, with the remaining seeds making their debut, including top 10 players like Maria Sakkari and Jessica Pegula as well as promising new talents like Diana Shnaider. It is sure to be a very exciting day of tennis in the California desert.

WTA Indian Wells Day 4 Predictions

Maria Sakkari vs Diana Shnaider

Head-to-head: Sakkari 1-0 Shnaider

Sakkari won a very tight contest between the two at last year’s Australian Open, but Shnaider has made a lot of progress since and is one of the brightest and most promising young players on tour. As a top 10 player, Sakkari is evidently the favorite here, but Shnaider can definitely cause her all sorts of issues and has a real chance at an upset.

Prediction: Sakkari in 3

Diane Parry vs Leylah Fernandez

Head-to-head: first meeting

A lot is expected from Fernandez ever since her amazing US Open 2021 run but she has consistently failed to deliver on those expectations and has had a very lackluster start to 2024. That said, she remains a better player than Parry, who hasn’t been having a good 2024 either, and should be able to come through here.

Prediction: Fernandez in 3

Victoria Azarenka vs Caroline Dolehide

Head-to-head: first meeting

Azarenka is putting together a quite solid, even if unspectacular, season so far, showing she still has what it takes to be competitive at the highest level. Dolehide, on the other hand, came into this tournament on a five match losing streak. She will be happy to have snapped it in the first round here, but that is as far as she should be able to go in this tournament.

Prediction: Azarenka in 2

Jessica Pegula vs Anna Blinkova

Head-to-head: Pegula 3-0 Blinkova

Pegula has had a poor start to the year, but she’s built a top 5 ranking on the back of being one of the most consistent players on tour at beating lower ranked opposition. She should be able to beat Blinkova, who she has already beaten this year last week in San Diego, here to try and get her season back on track after a quite rocky start.

Prediction: Pegula in 2
