ATP Vienna Quarterfinal Predictions Including Alexander Zverev vs Andrey Rublev

Andrey Rublev in action ahead of the ATP Shanghai Masters.

This Friday at the ATP 500 event in Vienna will feature the four quarterfinal matches, with five Top 10 players still left in the draw, including #1 seed and defending Vienna champion Daniil Medvedev. It’s one of the strongest ATP 500 events in recent memory and these final rounds should provide plenty of excitement and high quality tennis.

ATP Vienna Quarterfinal Predictions

Daniil Medvedev vs Karen Khachanov

Head-to-head: Medvedev 4-1 Khachanov

Medvedev has had the clear edge in this matchup, including two wins already this year. Khachanov had a very good year until Roland Garros, but has really struggled since despite a title in Zhuhai. It’s highly unlikely he can produce the sort of level necessary to turn the tide in this matchup against his countryman, who is defending his 2022 title here.
Prediction: Medvedev in 2

Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Borna Gojo

Head-to-head: first meeting

Tsitsipas has been struggling a lot this year after his run to the final in Australia, but he has a very good draw here to get to the semifinals. Gojo played very well at the US Open and looks ready to climb further up the rankings. His performances in Vienna have also been very impressive, with wins over Karatsev and Tommy Paul, but Tsitsipas should still have too much for him here.

Frances Tiafoe vs Jannik Sinner

Head-to-head: Sinner 2-1 Tiafoe

Tiafoe’s only win in this matchup was precisely here in Vienna, in a very tightly contested 2021 semifinal. Sinner has improved considerably since though and has established himself as a top 5 player in the world. Tiafoe got a very good win against Monfils in the second round, but Sinner should have a very clear edge in this quarterfinal matchup.
Prediction: Tiafoe in 2

Alexander Zverev vs Andrey Rublev

Head-to-head: Zverev 5-2 Rublev

Rublev had never won a set in this matchup before 2023, but he has won both of this year’s matchups in straight sets. Zverev’s injury clearly change the dynamics of this matchup but he seems to be getting closer and closer to his best and under normal circustances he has the edge over Rublev and he’s a former champion here in Vienna too (2021).
Prediction: Zverev in 3
