The fourth day of the 2023 BNP Paribas Nordic Open looks quite exciting with four matches that could literally be decided by a few points here or there. No easy opponents and plenty of thrilling action ahead. Who do you think will complete the quarterfinal line-up at ATP Stockholm?
ATP Stockholm Day 4 Predictions
Roman Safiullin vs Adrian Mannarino
Head-to-head: Mannarino 1-0
Both players have been on fire recently. Roman Safiullin blasted Alexander Zverev off the court in Shanghai and while his style is erratic, the recent Wimbledon quarterfinalist is peaking in like half of his performances recently. Meanwhile, Adrian Mannarino already owns two titles this year and is basically having the best season of his career at the age of 35. Quick indoor conditions suit both and it should be a thrilling matchup. Mannarino saved a match point last time they played, let’s give the slightest of edges to Safiullin this time.
Prediction: Safiullin in 3
Filip Misolic vs Gael Monfils
Head-to-head: First meeting
Filip Misolic won a tour-level match on hard courts for the very first time when he took out Daniel Evans in the opening round, plus scored his first victory against a top 50 player. His game likes quicker conditions, despite his general preference for clay. This is an actual opportunity for him too as Gael Monfils once again looked on the verge of exhaustion in a pretty late match on Wednesday. Of course that’s nothing new for the veteran Frenchman, but Misolic looks dangerous this week too.
Prediction: Misolic in 3

Elias Ymer vs Dino Prizmic
Head-to-head: First meeting
Elias Ymer is playing this tournament as a wildcard for the eighth time and it’s the fourth time he managed to make it to the second round. That’s the furthest he’s ever gotten but in all the previous round of 16 appearances, he had to take on a top 30 opponent. Now he gets an opportunity against the young superstar Dino Prizmic, who’s aiming to become the youngest player with multiple ATP Tour QFs since his compatriot Borna Coric in 2014. It’s now or never for Ymer and he played very well in the opening match.
Prediction: Ymer in 2
Stan Wawrinka vs Tomas Machac
Head-to-head: First meeting
Tomas Machac won back-to-back Challengers in Mouilleron-le-Captif and Orleans recently, finally getting himself to a position in the rankings that’s more in line with his actual ability. In the qualifying here, he lost to Dino Prizmic and was struggling physically though. The lucky loser spot already got him into the second round and that gives him quite a lot of time to recover. If he does, he might have a shot against Stan Wawrinka. The Swiss likes a lot of time to set up his powerful strokes and Machac takes the ball so early.
Prediction: Machac in 3
