Daniil Medvedev vs Jannik Sinner

Head to head – Medvedev 6-0 Sinner

The head to head is a lopsided one with Daniil Medvedev winning all six of their previous matches including the final in Miami this year. Jannik Sinner will definitely be carrying a little bit of mental baggage when he steps to the court to face an opponent who matches his ultra aggressive baseline play with his super precise defense from the back of the court.

Both players have had stellar runs in 2023 but analyzing this match only from the purview of this week makes this match even more enticing. The Russian is continuing his fine form after the final appearance at the US Open 2023 and he has seemed to develop a penchant for this time of the season. The Italian is coming off a stupendous victory over Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets and if there’s a time that he finally gets the better of Medvedev, it looks to be this match.

Medevedev is unlikely to waver from his set game plan which he knows has served him well in beating Sinner which puts the onus on the Italian to introduce more variety to unsettle the Russian. Expect Sinner to do so and gain a set but Medvedev looks very assured on his serve and his precision will eventually choke Sinner out of ideas.

Prediction: Medvedev in 3
