WTA Guangzhou Day 3 Predictions Including Magda Linette vs Daria Saville

Magda Linette Australian Open

Top-seeded Magda Linette has to play Daria Saville in the second round in Guangzhou on Day 3 of the WTA 250. Ranking-wise this might sound like a mismatch, but the Australian is just returning from an injury. Who do you think will win this thrilling clash on Wednesday?

WTA Guangzhou Day 3 Predictions

Moyuka Uchijima vs Lucia Bronzetti

Head-to-head: Bronzetti 1-0

Lucia Bronzetti started off her Asian swing by dropping just one game against Ya-Yi Yang. Moyuka Uchijima is a step up in quality, but is she that much of a step up? Sort of. The Japanese has already won three matches in this event, including against the dangerous Viktoria Hruncakova. Bronzetti rarely loses as the favorite though and should have a good chance to make the quarterfinals here.

Tatjana Maria vs Zhouxuan Bai

Head-to-head: First meeting

Zhouxuan Bai was one of the players who disappeared off the tour for two years around the time of the pandemic. Her progression since has been excellent though and looks like she might be one of these Chinese talents that are yet to be fully discovered. Facing Tatjana Maria is a challenge for players lacking experience since the German has such a tricky, unique slice-heavy style. She might find another victim here.

Yue Yuan vs Viktoria Hruncakova

Head-to-head: Hruncakova 1-0

Two players who are very dangerous on their day. Viktoria Hruncakova lost in the qualifying to Moyuka Uchijima, but used her second chance by beating Anna Kalinskaya. Not many can stop her when she’s serving well, but Yue Yuan has that forehand shotmaking that also makes her a tricky customer when on. Who will show more of their untapped potential on Wednesday? That seems like anyone’s guess.
Predictions: Yuan in 3

Magda Linette vs Daria Saville

Head-to-head: Linette 1-0

Magda Linette was always known for her efforts during the Asian Swing, winning Ningbo in 2014 and Hua Hin in 2020. This time, it might be a great opportunity for her to recover from a very mediocre patch since the Australian Open. Daria Saville is no slouch though and if it wasn’t for the injuries, she would be ranked so much higher at the moment. Linette will need every bit of her Asian Swing magic here as this is the best match of the round.
Predictions: Linette in 3
