ATP Toronto Day 3 Predictions Including Holger Rune vs Marcos Giron

Holder Rune French Open

Day 3 at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Toronto will feature plenty of exciting action, including the debut of 2021 champion Daniiel Medvedev, who’s only one of many Top 10 players starting their tournament on Wednesday. It should be a day packed with tight and high quality matches. We predict all 15 matches on the schedule for you, split between four articles. Our other three articles feature Carlos Alcaraz vs Ben Shelton, Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Gael Monfils, and Matteo Berrettini vs Jannik Sinner. Who do you think will advance?

ATP Toronto Day 3 Predictions

Andrey Rublev vs Mackenzie McDonald

Head-to-head: Rublev 1-1 McDonald

McDonald has proved to be a very tough nut to crack for Rublev in the past with his defense and retrieving ability, but the Russian should be able to find a way to overcome him. Rublev tends to hit a wall when he faces the very best players in the world but against lower ranked opposition he’s extremely consistent, hence why he’s been a feature in the top 10 for so long, he usually finds a way to win the matches he should win even if he struggles in the process.
Prediction: Rublev in 3

Matteo Arnaldi vs Daniil Medvedev

Head-to-head: Medvedev 1-0 Arnaldi
Medvedev won the title here in 2021 right before taking the US Open as well, and he’s one of the favorites to do it again as always on hard courts. Arnaldi has been having a good year but it would be one of the biggest upsets of 2023 if he managed to beat the world #3 here.
Prediction: Medvedev in 2

Lorenzo Musetti vs Thanasi Kokkinakis

Head-to-head: first meeting

This should one of the most entertaining matches of the day. Musetti might be far higher ranked, but on a hard court Kokkinakis has more than enough ability to challenge him and even beat him. Musetti can play on hardcourt, but it’s on clay that he’s at his best, no big runs are expected from him at this level on hard.
Prediction: Kokkinakis in 3

Holger Rune vs Marcos Giron

Head-to-head: Giron 1-0 Rune

Giron won very easily when the pair faced at Wimbledon last year, but Rune has improved tremendously since then and is now one of the best players in the world and one of the favorites for every event he enters. He’s still prone to upsets against lower ranked players, but it’s hardly likely to happen here.
Prediction: Rune in 2
