Day 3 of the ATP 500 in Washington, D.C. has some incredible matches. As always, we here at LWOT will share our thoughts on them with you. We split the day’s 11 matches between three articles. Our other two articles feature Taylor Fritz vs Zachary Svajda and Brandon Nakashima vs Andy Murray. Who do you think will win?
ATP Washington Day 3 Predictions
Radu Albot vs J.J. Wolf
Albot is a solid enough journeyman at times, but Wolf is an up-and-coming American who loves these hard courts. This type of match should let Wolf replicate what made him so successful at the NCAA level–the surface, the hot conditions, and the opponent. Expect the former Ohio State Buckeye to move on.
Prediction: Wolf in 2

Christopher Eubanks vs Sho Shimabukuro
Eubanks had a huge breakthrough during the grass season, winning a title in Mallorca and following it up with an impressive Wimbledon run. He looked solid enough in Atlanta, and that level should get him through this match, too.
Prediction: Eubanks in 2
Jordan Thompson vs Adrian Mannarino
Thompson played well in Round 1 to take out Kevin Anderson, but it’s a quick turnaround to this match. With his style, the D.C. heat, and Mannarino’s solid level on fast surfaces, that could matter.
Prediction: Mannarino in 3
Gael Monfils vs Alexander Bublik
What a treat this will be for the fans in D.C. Two of the best showmen in tennis square off. It’s not an exhibition, but it might feel like it at some points. Both will serve well, hit huge, and have fun. Whoever can play the big points well will probably win, so I’d give Bublik the tiniest of edges right now.
Prediction: Bublik in 3
