Four of the eight second-round matches of the 2023 WTA BNP Paribas Warsaw Open will be played out on Tuesday. The highest seed in action is Lin Zhu (seeded 4th), who will take on Laura Siegemund in the match of the day slot at 5:30 pm local time. Who do you think will prevail?
WTA Warsaw Day 3 Predictions
Yanina Wickmayer vs Tereza Martincova
Head-to-head: First meeting
Yanina Wickmayer is making her way back to the top level this year with three ITF titles already and an awesome 39-12 win/loss record. Most of her wins came in smaller events than this, but she proved her form by defeating Nao Hibino in Warsaw already. Tereza Martincova was just as impressive though in her dismissal of Shuai Zhang. It’s a really close call, seems like the courts could suit the Czech’s game a tiny bit more.
Prediction: Martincova in 3
Tatjana Maria vs Clara Tauson
Head-to-head: First meeting
Clara Tauson played her opening round against Daria Snigur with a heavily-taped knee, but it didn’t seem to impact her play. This might be important here as with the slice-and-dice game of Tatjana Maria, the opponents are required to bend their knees really low. The bounce is rather high and the courts are slow though, which will make the German’s unique style slightly less effective. It’s a good opportunity for the young talent.
Prediction: Tauson in 2
Viktoria Hruncakova vs Linda Noskova
Head-to-head: Noskova 1-0
Linda Noskova had to battle hard in her opening round against Jana Fett, but managed to find some better shot selection when it mattered most. She has already defeated Viktoria Hruncakova in Lyon earlier this year and it was a routine victory. This one probably won’t be this easy, especially with the Slovak serving up 16 aces on Monday against Kristina Kucova. She remains the favorite though.
Prediction: Noskova in 3

Laura Siegemund vs Lin Zhu
Head-to-head: First meeting
Another match on the schedule that’s a really tough call. Lin Zhu’s best season of her career continues with a straight-set beating of her compatriot Xiyu Wang in round one. Laura Siegemund managed to blast through Maja Chwalinska in the opening round and seemed very comfortable with the height of the bounce on Centre Court in Warsaw. This is a very different matchup against a fellow big-hitter though and we’ll see whether she can handle that change.
Prediction: Zhu in 3
