Carlos Alcaraz vs Alex de Minaur

Head-to-head: Alcaraz 1-0 de Minaur

It has been heartening to see the way Carlos Alcaraz has reset himself for the next challenge after the disappointment of his defeat in the semifinals at Roland Garros. The Spaniard would’ve been excused if had an immediate letdown post a disappointing end to his Roland Garros campaign but Alcaraz appears to have immediately refocused to concentrate on his ambitions of winning the title at Wimbledon. Apart from the first set in his first match here, he has been at his dominating best and lost just one set.

He takes on Alex de Minaur in the final. The Australian has perhaps surprised a few people with his performance this year at the ATP Queen’s Club Championships. He has a solid grass-court game, but there was not much to suggest that de Minaur would be able to reach the final but here he is and he will look back at the fact that he held match points in the pair’s lone previous meeting.

Both players are incredible movers on the court and they’ve adapted very well to the rigours of grass-court tennis. Expect these two to not back down at all but it just feels that Alcaraz’s game is more refined and he has more options when his back against the wall. De Minaur should be able to track down plenty of extra balls but it’s unlikely he will be able to hit through Alcaraz and the Spaniard will just keep coming.

Prediction: Alcaraz in 2
