ATP Queen’s Day 2 Predictions Including Maxime Cressy vs Holger Rune

Maxime Cressy in action. He will play on day two at the ATP Queen's Club Championships.

The ATP Queen’s Club Championship always features very strong fields and 2023 is no exception in that regard, with a mix of top ranked players and grass-court specialists, including returning veterans like and rising youngsters. Day two of the tournament is certain to bring a lot of excitement, with tight matches and high quality grass-court tennis. As always, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for every match on the schedule. But who will come out on top?

ATP Queens Day 2 Predictions

Jordan Thompson vs Milos Raonic

Head-to-head: Thompson 1-1 Raonic

Jordan Thompson won when the pair met last week, winning a tight first-set tiebreaker and then running away with the second. However, it was Milos Raonic’s first tournament back from a very long layoff and he’s bound to be better this week. Besides, Thompson is likely to feel a bit tired, both physically and mentally, after making the final last week and coming so close to a first career title. This time around, the Canadian should be able to come through and take another step in his comeback path.

Prediction: Raonic in 2

Grigor Dimitrov vs Emil Ruusuvuori

Head-to-head: Dimitrov 1-0 Ruusuvuori

Grigor Dimitrov won with relative ease when the pair faced off at Roland Garros a couple of weeks ago, but this time things should be a bit closer. Emil Ruusuvuori played well last week on grass, scoring a fantastic over over the hard-hitting world #9 Jannik Sinner, but Dimitrov is also very comfortable on grass himself. The Bulgarian is a former- champion at the ATP Queen’s Club Championships (he lifted the title in 2014) and should have enough grass-court nous to prevail here.

Maxime Cressy vs Holger Rune

Head-to-head: Rune 3-1 Cressy

Holger Rune will surely be very disappointed at how his Roland Garros campaign ended, but he’s still one of the most promising young players in the world with a bright future ahead. However, grass is far from his surface; he’s still young and could turn that around but the huge-serving Maxime Cressy is far from an ideal opponent for your first grass match of the season. The American serve-and-volleyer will probably capture the crowd’s affection and should have the beating of Rune.

Prediction: Cressy in 3
