It’s time for the quarterfinals of the 2023 ATP Monte Carlo Masters. Top-seeded Novak Djokovic has been eliminated, but the two-time defending champion Stefanos Tsitsipas remains in the field. Who do you think will make the final four?
ATP Monte Carlo Quarterfinal Predictions
Andrey Rublev vs Jan-Lennard Struff
Head-to-head: Rublev 3-3 Struff
What a run it’s been for Jan-Lennard Struff, who’s only made it this far at an ATP 1000 event for the second time in his career. It has to be said though that it’s not completely out of the blue and the German has been firing since the beginning of the year (win/loss record 27-9 at the moment). Andrey Rublev is an opponent he’s historically done well against, particularly on clay. If he maintains his level, there’s nothing stopping him from going even a step further.
Prediction: Struff in 3

Lorenzo Musetti vs Jannik Sinner
Head-to-head: Sinner 1-0 Musetti
Lorenzo Musetti eliminated Novak Djokovic on Thursday, although the quality of that win isn’t quite as high as it would usually be. The Serbian played in an arm sleeve and his serve speed was impacted, along with his forehand. Jannik Sinner survived a match point against Hubert Hurkacz and is usually the better player. 23-5 for the year, the 21-year-old keeps racking up deep runs and should take advantage of not having to face the World No. 1 here.
Prediction: Sinner in 2

Taylor Fritz vs Stefanos Tsitsipas
Head-to-head: Tsitsipas 3-0 Fritz
Other than a couple of exhibition matches on grass, Taylor Fritz is yet to beat Stefanos Tsitsipas. They’ve only played once since the American fully established himself as a top player though (you could even argue that the 2022 Australian Open was just the beginning of that journey). Fritz has figured his game out on clay beautifully and can actually be a pretty consistent force on this surface as well. But Monte Carlo is one of the Greek’s happiest hunting grounds and the two-time defending champion seems to have healed up his shoulder injury.
Prediction: Tsitsipas in 3

Holger Rune vs Daniil Medvedev
Head-to-head: first meeting
Holger Rune only needed to play one match to advance to the quarterfinals, receiving a walkover from Matteo Berrettini in round three. But in that one performance against Dominic Thiem, he was absolutely sublime. While the 19-year-old hasn’t shined as brightly as we expected from him so far in 2023, this could be his chance to return to winning ways. Daniil Medvedev finished his match against Alexander Zverev after 11 pm local time on Thursday and he’s generally far less effective on clay.
Prediction: Rune in 2
