It’s time for the 2023 ATP Qatar Open quarterfinal round in Doha. Plenty of renowned players have made it to this round, including former Grand Slam champions Andy Murray and Daniil Medvedev. Who do you think will come out on top?
ATP Doha Quarterfinal Predictions
Andy Murray vs Alexandre Muller
Head-to-head: First meeting
Andy Murray still can’t quite get to a level of performance that would let him contend for big titles again, but he’s getting plenty of wins with his incredible grit. He survived Lorenzo Sonego and Alexander Zverev and now he gets a slightly easier opponent. The rallies should be long with Alexandre Muller’s plays tyle, but it’s Murray who has the ability to gain the upper hand in them.
Prediction: Murray in 2
Daniil Medvedev vs Christopher O’Connell
Head-to-head: First meeting
Daniil Medvedev might be finding his form back after grabbing a title in Rotterdam. While he was supposed to have a really tough quarterfinal opponent in Roberto Bautista Agut here, now his second-round draw is much more pleasant. Christopher O’Connell doesn’t really have the weapons to hurt the Russian and will probably go down here somewhat easy.
Prediction: Medvedev in 2
Andrey Rublev vs Jiri Lehecka
Head-to-head: Rublev 1-0
Andrey Rublev had to save match points against Tallon Griekspoor in the quarterfinals, which was quite important for him after losing his opener to Alex de Minaur in Rotterdam last week. His draw from hell continues though as the Russian will now face Jiri Lehecka. The youngster made so much progress during the off-season in terms of his ability as a match player. With Rublev in indifferent form, he’s got every chance of winning this one.
Prediction: Lehecka in 3
Felix Auger-Aliassime vs Alejandro Davidovich Fokina
Head-to-head: Auger-Aliassime 3-0
Felix Auger-Aliassime has not yet reached his 2022 heights yet, but he did problem-solve quite well against Jason Kubler on Wednesday. The Canadian will now face Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, who’s always there waiting around for a big win like that. The dynamics of play should be more on Auger-Aliassime though and the 22-year-old will have the control over the rallies in this matchup.
Prediction: Auger-Aliassime in 3
