Day 2 at the ATP event in Montpellier will feature plenty of exciting action, with several matches that promise to be high quality and extremely competitive. World #9 Holger Rune is the #1 seed, but aside from him and Sinner there’s a lack of top players in this tournament, which will surely lead several lower ranked players to believe that they can have a deep run and even win the title here. We also predict the rest of the day’s matches in a separate article.
ATP Montpellier Day 2 Predictions
Maxime Cressy vs Antoine Bellier
Head-to-head: first meeting
Neither player has been having a good season, but Cressy seems to clearly have the bigger upside of the two and his huge serve and volleying ability always makes him a huge threat on these indoor surfaces. Bellier made it through the qualifying playing some pretty good tennis, but it’s unlikely that he can withstand the barrage of Cressy serve bombs. The American should be able to pull through here.
Prediction: Cressy in 2
Luca Nardi vs Arthur Rinderknech
Head-to-head: first meeting
Both players have struggled a lot so far this year: Nardi came into Montpellier on the back of five consecutive losses before making it through qualifying; Rinderknech lost all of his last three matches, including a straight set defeat at the Australian Open in a match he was favored to win. Both players will be looking to get their season back on track with a win here and home advantage might just be the edge Rinderknech needs to pull through.
Prediction: Rinderknech in 3
Filip Krajinovic vs Aslan Karatsev
Head-to-head: first meeting
Both players are very far from their best level and will be looking to get back up the rankings this season. It’s a very tough match to call as both players have similar levels and both have been struggling in recent times. Krajinovic might have the slightest of edges here.
Prediction: Krajinovic in 3
