WTA Adelaide 2 Quarterfinal Predictions Including Caroline Garcia vs Belinda Bencic

Belinda Bencic prepares for the WTA Guadalajara Open.

What a cracking line-up awaits us in the quarterfinal round of the 2023 WTA Adelaide International 2. It’s the week before the Slam, but all these stars of the women’s game have their sights set on another title before they go to Melbourne. It looks like we’re in for some extremely tight matches, at least on paper. Who will make the final four?

WTA Adelaide 2 Quarterfinal Predictions

Petra Kvitova vs Daria Kasatkina

Head-to-head: Kvitova 1-0

Petra Kvitova is looking great to start the year, and along with the United Cup, has now scored four wins without a single loss. Daria Kasatkina lost her opening match to Linda Noskova in the first Adelaide event, but her physical issues from that one seem gone as she dispatched Barbora Krejcikova on Wednesday. The favorite here should be the Czech, who’s got the more imposing game on a quicker court and the higher upside, even at this stage of her career.
Prediction: Kvitova in 3

Beatriz Haddad Maia vs Paula Badosa

Head-to-head: First meeting

Both players remain unbeaten this season. Beatriz Haddad Maia had some fairly easy opponents at the United Cup, but fared just as well with the stakes raised in Adelaide, especially in her dismissal of Amanda Anisimova. Paula Badosa managed to defeat the two best Estonians of all-time back-to-back (Anett Kontaveit and Kaia Kanepi). This looks like another coin flip. The Spaniard has been slightly more impressive this week so far, but Haddad Maia is pretty well-equipped to hold her back with that heavy lefty game.

Danielle Collins vs Veronika Kudermetova

Head-to-head: Kudermetova 1-0

Danielle Collins was the runner-up at the Australian Open last year and she seems to enjoy the summer Down Under conditions. She kicked off her year with a loss to Elena Rybakina, but is now back on the right track with two solid wins in Adelaide. When playing well, her peak is higher than Veronika Kudermetova’s and this match should be more on her racket. Especially if she can get onto the Russian’s second serve early with her massive backhand returns.
Prediction: Collins in 3

Caroline Garcia vs Belinda Bencic

Head-to-head: Bencic 1-0

Belinda Bencic lost a pretty tight two-setter to Iga Swiatek at the United Cup, but she appears to be in great form as well. Caroline Garcia went to battle with Katerina Siniakova on Wednesday, eventually finding the key break at 6-5 in the deciding set. Expect fireworks here in yet another match that looks extremely close on paper. Bencic does have a pretty good serve and that along with her flat ball could make it tough for Garcia to execute her gameplan of attacking every single return.
Prediction: Bencic in 3
