WTA Adelaide Day 3 Predictions

Kaia Kanepi vs Paula Badosa

Head-to-head: Kanepi 1-0 Badosa

Kanepi is a veteran of the circuit with 24 years as a pro now, but she remains a very difficult opponent for anyone on any given day. She beat Badosa when they faced at Miami 2019, but things are very different now: Badosa might still struggle at Grand Slam level, where she has a single quarterfinal appearance, but she’s one of the most regular players at tour level and even reached #2 in the rankings last year. She’ll undoubtedly come into this match as the favorite, even if Kanepi still has enough quality to defeat high ranked opponents on her day.

Beatriz Haddad Maia vs Amanda Anisimova

Head-to-head: Anisimova 2-0 Haddad Maia

On paper, this is a very evenly matched encounter. Anisimova did win both of their previous matches, but Haddad Maia is arguably in the best moment of her career, ranked #15. It’s a very hard match to call and it will mostly depend on form on the day.
Prediction: Anisimova in 3

Caroline Garcia vs Katerina Siniakova

Head-to-head: Siniakova 4-2 Garcia

This is a very surprising head-to-head, but one that shows Siniakova has the ability to cause a lot of difficulties and even make an upset here. That said, Garcia has been a very different player since last summer and is currently in the best moment of her career, so those previous matches don’t mean all that much. Garcia will be aiming to have a big 2023 and she should be able to prevail here.
Prediction: Garcia in 3

Petra Kvitova vs Zheng Qinwen

Head-to-head: first meeting

Kvitova has the bigger game and the match will be mostly on her racket but she’s known for being quite inconsistent while Zheng is certainly the steadier player on a match to match basis. That said, Kvitova was impressive in her previous match against Rybakina and looks like she might be headed for a very good week here.
Prediction: Kvitova in 2
