ATP Florence Day 2 Predictions Including Richard Gasquet vs Brandon Nakashima

Richard Gasquet in action ahead of the ATP Florence Open.

Expect an exciting second day at the ATP Florence Open with six intriguing first-round matches on the slate in Tuscany. As always, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for every match around the grounds in Florence, including Alexander Bublik vs Cristian Garin. But who will advance?

ATP Florence Day 2 Predictions

Tim van Rijthoven vs Mikael Ymer

Head-to-head: van Rijthoven 1-0 Ymer

Tim van Rijthoven and Mikael Ymer will square off in tbe first in Florence after both advanced through two rounds of qualifying to reach the main draw. After a dream run during the grass season that saw him win eight straight matches, van Rijthoven has struggled to find his footing. The Dutchman is 4-5 since his run to the Wimbledon round of 16, including a 1-3 mark in tour-level main draw matches. Ymer, on the other hand, reached the quarterfinals in Metz a few weeks back. The Swede has spent more of his time at tour-level events this season, posting a 17-17 mark in such matches. Expect this to be a back-and-forth contest with most points turning into a battle from the baseline. I like Ymer, who has shown better recent form, to find the finish line.

Marton Fucsovics vs Oscar Otte

Head-to-head: first meeting

Veterans Marton Fucsovics and Oscar Otte are set to square off for the first time in the first round in Florence. 2022 has been arguably the worst season of Fucsovics’ pro career. He holds a 21-22 overall record and has won just one tour-level main draw match over the past four months. The hard-hitting Hungarian has lost his consistency. On the other side of the net, Otte has not been in the best form himself. The German, who achieved a career high ranking of World No. 36 on June 27th, has won just one match since Wimbledon. He is 1-7 during that span. Something must give between these two in Florence. Otte holds an abysmal 1-7 indoor hard court record this season, suggests Fucsovics should have enough.

Richard Gasquet vs Brandon Nakashima

Head-to-head: first meeting

Veteran Richard Gasquet is looking to oust eighth seed Brandon Nakashima in this first-round match in Florence. Gasquet has been playing some solid tennis over the past few months. The former world #7 holds a 9-5 record since late August, knocking off the likes of Lorenzo Musetti and Miomir Kecmanovic during that time. With that said, the consistency of the young American may give him some real problems.

Nakashima is just 21-years-old, but you could never tell with the calm-nature of his game. He can fire powerful groundstrokes off of both wings and has steadily improved his serve over the past 18 months. Nakashima raised his maiden title in San Diego a few weeks back and will be one of the favorites to raise the Next Gen Finals title in Milan. I like the American to advance in two close sets.

Prediction: Nakashima in 2
