ATP Seoul Semifinal Predictions
Aleksandar Kovacevic vs Yoshihito Nishioka
Head to head – First Meeting
Both these players are having a great week here in Seoul, South Korea. They’ve played some outstanding tennis to beat opponents ranked way higher than them and it’s fitting to see them battle it out for a spot in the final two. They also take on each other for the first time which makes this prospect even more exciting.
Aleksandar Kovacevic’s serve has been key for his wins this week and he’ll need it if he’s to stand a chance of winning. Yoshihito Nishioka has played inspiring tennis this week and it’ll take some stopping to halt his progress. The Japanese has struck the ball extremely flat and his win over Casper Ruud was sublime. Expect Kovacevic to serve his way to a set but that’s all he’ll be getting.
Prediction: Nishioka in 3
Jenson Brooksby vs Denis Shapovalov
Head to head – First Meeting
This should be an interesting one. Jenson Brooksby is just on his second year on the pro tour and to be inside the top 50 is a testament to his talent. His 2022 win loss record is similar to Denis Shapovalov’s which means there’s not much to separate them form wise if we compare the whole year.
Apart from his first round match, the American has looked at ease and was lucky to have got a walkover as Cameron Norrie had to pull out. It’s been a hot and cold type of 2022 for the Canadian and while he has blitzed through his first two matches, Brooksby would provide a different kind of challenge altogether. Shapovalov has been guilty of spraying errors at times and it feels like the American is capable of putting the Canadian in a similar state of mind.
Prediction: Brooksby in 3
