Sebastian Baez a champion on the ATP Challenger Tour.

Sebastian Baez, one of the most exciting prospects of the “NextGen” stunned onlookers once again. The young Argentine was unfortunate to meet the in-form Nick Kyrgios in the first round of the ATP Montreal Masters, but played some excellent tennis throughout. The best moment of the match, though, came from his racket towards the end of the second set.

Sebastian Baez Hits Sensational Tweener Lob

Kyrgios is often known to be the player creating hot shots for fun in his matches. Though he had some good moments in this encounter, it was the newcomer who outshone him with a stunning tweener lob. Many tennis fans were undoubtedly thrilled to see the maverick Australian getting a taste of his own medicine.

We’ve not seen much of this from Baez, who is still playing his first full season on tour. He’s an incredibly solid player with an exceptional forehand, but rarely does he go for a trick shot in a pressure moments. Clearly, he can do it all – and his future looks brighter as each week passes. With an ATP title already to his name, it’s clear this youngster is destined for big things in tennis.

Though he eventually lost 6-4 6-4 to the red-hot Nick Kyrgios, the 21 year-old gave the Montreal crowd a moment to savor with this slice of genius. On top of this, Baez broke the Kyrgios serve in the first set–making him the first player to do so since Wimbledon. The Australian wasn’t broken once last week as he won his seventh career singles title in Washington.

Despite the loss, there are plenty of positives to take for Baez, who may well be one of the top players on tour in years to come.
