WTA Lausanne Day 4 Predictions Including Belinda Bencic vs Susan Bandecchi

Bencic Mallorca Open

The WTA closed its grass-court season in London on Saturday, crowning Elena Rybakina as the 2022 Wimbledon champion. These next two weeks are filled with 250 clay-court events, including the WTA Ladies Open Lausanne in Switzerland. As always, we here at LWOT are offering our predictions for every match on day three, but who will book their place in the quarterfinals?

WTA Lausanne Day 4 Predictions

Olga Danilovic vs Anna Kalinskaya

Head-to-Head: Danilovic leads 1-0

21-year-old Olga Danilovic has yet to drop a set through three matches in Lausanne. The Serbian advanced through qualifiers before besting Misaki Doi in Round 1. Her 2022 started in May due to injury but she has looked impressive on the ITF circuit over the past two months. Her opponent, Anna Kalinskaya, has focused her efforts on tour-level tournaments but has struggled to make a breakthrough. Danilovic is the stronger clay court player and is playing with supreme confidence.
Prediction: Danilovic in 2

Jule Niemeier vs Eva Lys

Head-to-Head: Niemeier leads 1-0

Two young Germans will square off in Round 2 at the Ladies Open Lausanne. Jule Niemeier is coming off a superb run to the Wimbledon quarterfinals. Both players have shown a strong proclivity to the clay, with Niemeier holding an impressive 18-4 record on the surface this season. Eva Lys looked impressive in her Round 1 victory over Varvara Gracheva, but Jule Niemeier is playing at a different level right now.
Prediction: Niemeier in 2

Caroline Garcia vs Leolia Jeanjean

Head-to-Head: First meeting

After running through qualifying without dropping a set, Leolia Jeanjean received a Round 1 walkover. Her Round 2 opponent, #6 seed Caroline Garcia, is looking to translate a 10-3 grass season over to the clay. Garcia has had previous success on the clay but has only played three matches on the surface this season. With that said, she has won nine of her last ten matches overall and should be able to best her compatriot.
Prediction: Garcia in 3

Belinda Bencic vs Susan Bandecchi

Head-to-Head: First meeting

Swiss compatriots Belinda Bencic and Susan Bandecchi will meet for the first time in Round 2 on their home soil. Just one year separates these two in age, but the elder Bencic is currently ranked 216 spots ahead of Bandecchi. With that said, Bencic came from a set down to win her Round 1 match while Bandecchi rolled. I do, however, see the consistency and strength of Bencic winning out in this one.
Prediction: Bencic in 2
